Bio

I'm a high school junior and the oldest of five boys. I love classical music and plan to double major in organ and violin performance. I play baseball primarily, but I enjoy playing and watching all kinds of sports. I especially enjoy watching football. I also love reading all kinds of books, from classical literature to fiction. I'm a bit of an entrepreneur and I'd love to have my own business someday. My favorite subject besides music is math. I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I'm a hard working student and care a lot about my education.

Sports and other outdoor activities have been a significant part of my life since I was only five years old. Sports also play a vital role in my physical education. I recently joined a Varsity baseball team which requires intense workouts and rigorous training activities to keep the team in good shape. While I truly value and enjoy these outdoor training activities, I suffer from asthma and considerable allergies to pollen. Due to these conditions, it is challenging to participate in the sports that I love. I always have to carry an inhaler around with me and often use it after exercising. I also have to take medicine every night for my allergies. Allergies combined with asthma lead to shortness of breath even after a short run. This limits the amount of time I can spend playing sports. My pediatrician has encouraged me to work out more and build endurance so that my asthma does not affect me as considerably. Paying careful attention to my health is also important. People with asthma are generally more susceptible to illness. Symptoms of sicknesses such as a cold or the flu can be aggravated by asthma and even lead to dangerous health conditions. I take medicine every day to help with this and eat the healthiest food that I can. As far as allergies go, I take medicine every day to lessen the symptoms. I have found, however, that local honey often works better than the medicine. Adding the sweet local honey to a cup of tea in the morning helps me to get through the day without constantly sneezing. Taking a shower also helps to water down the effects of the pollen. There are certain times of the year when there is so much pollen from all the blooming flowers that it is impossible to go outside without getting a headache and a stuffed nose. There are other times of the year when it is so cold that I have to use my inhaler after any kind of activity outdoors. When these conditions are present, I try to make up for it by doing indoor baseball training. Other sports, such as basketball, can also be played indoors. I take advantage of these whenever I can. I can never fully get rid of my medical conditions, but there are many things I am doing to limit the effects that they have on me. As I go forward, I plan to continue playing the sports that I enjoy so much. My asthma and allergies can't stop me!
      William Smith Scholarship
On Christmas day in 2015, I unwrapped my first-ever violin. I was eight years old at the time and could not possibly be more excited about learning an instrument. My parents had worked it out for me to begin taking lessons with a violin teacher in the spring of 2016. When spring came, I began taking lessons and I have faithfully done so for nine years. Now, I am seeking to pursue a vocation in pipe organ and violin performance in college, a decision I made relatively recently. Less than a year ago, I decided to take organ lessons in anticipation of my future career. My dream job would be to serve as either a music director or organist in a church, though I would also enjoy participating in a symphonic orchestra as a violinist. Either way, I want to minister to people with music and seek to give the world a sense of appreciation and love for music. Music is very powerful and moving, something I learned at a very young age. I have sought to give back to my community by performing. However, what I believe to be most important is playing violin in church services. I have done this for various churches across the country, always intending to minister to people through my playing. Eventually, I plan on doing the same with pipe organ by serving as a part-time organist at a church during college. To achieve my goal of becoming a professional musician, I must have a rigorous college education. Since college auditions are only a year away, I have invested between one and two hours of organ practice each day. On top of that, I am currently practicing violin for one to two hours per day as well. Any spare time that I have during a school day is spent on the organ bench practicing. Audition repertoire involves a great amount of preparation and is usually extremely involved. Receiving scholarships from a college largely depends on the performance during college auditions. Since I plan on double majoring in organ and violin, I have to prepare two separate auditions. In order to play my best, I am participating in activities that involve performing in front of various groups of people, including online. I started a YouTube channel to share my progress with people all over the world. I have received countless comments critiquing and encouraging my playing. I have also played a couple of different violin concerts at various venues to help with the anxiety of performing in front of people. I plan on participating in organ and violin competitions in the near future as well. On top of performing concerts, I have also participated in a variety of music camps that have encouraged my love of music and tested the limits of my abilities. I have also become a much more well-rounded musician thanks to the investment of numerous professional musicians in my life. Many proven musicians have encouraged me and helped to prepare me for a life in music ministry. Of all the people who have invested in my life, my parents are the greatest. My dad and mom, both fine musicians, have provided me with lessons and taken the time to teach me from their own life experiences. Both of them have ministered to thousands of people with their musical talent and are preparing me to do the same. I cannot wait to launch into my career.

On Christmas day in 2015, I unwrapped my first-ever violin. I was eight years old at the time and quite small, so I was given a 1/8-size instrument. Team USA Fan Scholarship
My favorite athlete to cheer for on Team USA would have to be Stephen Curry. I absolutely love watching him play basketball. He is one of the most talented NBA players I have ever seen. He is also a fun guy and has a great personality. During the last Olympics, he hit several three-point shots near the end of the title game to secure the win for Team USA. His opponents can never seem to stop him. He never fails to disappoint. Another reason I love watching him is that I am a big sports fan and basketball is one of my favorites. It is such an exciting sport to watch, especially during the Olympics. Stephen Curry made his first Olympic appearance for Team USA in 2024 in Paris at the age of 36. His first appearance in the Olympics was stellar. His abilities combined with the talent of several other legends on the USA basketball team proved spectacular as Team USA claimed the gold in basketball. It is good to know that the United States of America still possesses some of the greatest talent in the world. Who knows, if Stephen Curry keeps it up, we may be able to watch him play again for Team USA in the next summer Olympics.
