My identity is highly influenced by the Hispanic population. I grew up in a close-knit Hispanic family and thus learned early on how hard work, resilience, and strong family bonds could be key. My background comes with the expectation to keep moving and achieve my dreams despite whatever hurdles I will face. The qualities of perseverance and ambition that my family passed down have "hardened" me up, teaching me not to let little things-e.g. difficulties that come with mental upkeep-prevent me from achieving what I really work for. All these things have made me internalize keeping an eye on the future and not allowing setbacks to derail me. Indeed, by and large, the world and the U.S. tend to stereotype Hispanics negatively. Labels such as "illegal aliens" and other vile terms perpetuate our community's unjust and inaccurate beliefs about itself. Such experiences made me very aware of the enormous problems many immigrants face in terms of legal problems and a hostile and hostile society. Stereotype and its consequences have inspired in me a sense of mission to combat. I am motivated to give voice through my actions on behalf of people whose voices are generally lost in the society. My family has had direct experiences with racism and discrimination, and those experiences have stoked the fire of change inside me. Watching my parents and other family members work so very hard to provide a good life for us, only to come up against the system and prejudice, has fueled my passion for a life devoted to those kinds of careers. I want to be that lawyer one day who helps immigrants deal with the every-day American barriers in politicking and law. I want to stand tall for those who feel silenced in society and affirm their right to justice and fair treatment. My past has instilled within me a deeper understanding of the power and strength of culture. It has told me that every challenge in life does not define an individual, but in fact, builds character and defines actions. As I make my way forward with my aspirations of becoming a lawyer, my Hispanic roots motivate me to lend a voice and a skill toward the betterment of lives. I hold much passion in fighting for policies relevant to justice, equality, and fairness for all, particularly those who reflect my background and the immigrant experience. I view life through a lens of empathy and advocacy-from my own experience and the stories surrounding those close to me. My mission is to cut across all the barriers keeping people away from destiny, making sure future generations enjoy fair opportunities to reach their potential. My Hispanic family background has not only influenced my views but also given me the strength and determination to work for a more inclusive and just society.
      Dedication for Education Scholarship
I am a first-generation student who attends Fresno State as an undeclared student as of right now. I am planning on getting a master's in computer science for many reasons. In my household, I live with my mom and two sisters who are my inspiration to pursue a higher education. The reason why I wanted to go to college is to help out my family as well as my community or the world in one way or another. Both my siblings are younger, making me seem like their role model which gives me a reason why I want them to know that college will always be an option for their future. As of my life in high school, I was the Vice President of my Environmental club. I wasn't sure what I wanted to major in when I got to college but during my junior year, I joined a computer class which resulted in me getting that knowledge of a new subject. Having that door opened for me made me have a passion for computer science. I was also involved in my high school band which taught me time management and dedication towards something. Lastly, I was involved in my high school floristry class was something that made me realize that it wasn't for me but it gave me a sense of understanding the troubles of someone who is a florist which wasn't easy. With all these different subjects, I learned some struggles that others may go through and how computer science may help others. Computer science for me is a major that can help others with devices, apps, or any sort of technology. As well as it can help, it can also make sure that people's technology is safe with cybersecurity. In the world we are in today, there are a lot of negative things such as violence, racism, climate change, etc. With this being said, I want to make sure that I can use technology as a sort of safety for all. An example of how computer science can be a good sort of safety is creating a device like the device that can be worn as jewelry that has a button that can automatically call the police when someone is in danger. I want to be able to create a device that can be with the same intention of stately. Another form of safety can also be from software such as cybersecurity, passwords, etc. My goal is to create some sort of device or app that can help others.
Revolutionizing Robotics and Computer Sciences Scholarship
One thing that I would like to see undergo a revolution is a device or app that helps others. I am a first generation student who is a freshman in college as of today. Right now I am struggling with school but I am planning to push through the struggle and hope that one day I will be able to accomplish my dreams of pursuing computer science. I first started having an intrest on computer science when I was a little girl. I would try pulling apart phones to just see if I can build the phone back up. I think of computer science as a puzzle of math which is somehting that I do find intresting. I think this is true because the foundation for computer science is the coding and the typing skills but also needs a sort of thinking skill to understand the languange of coding and understand how to type that language in a good speed. i first started an engineering class when I was in 5th or 6th grade which gave me an idea of what this field was going to be about. In that class, the teacher would teach us how to build solar panels and how they work and what they are used for. I was intrested in this topic but knew that I wanted to focus more on the software of technology. Even though the engineering wasn't fully catching my intrest, I knew I wanted to be in this sort of field. During my life, I would always struggle with school work and always had to ask for help for the littlest things. I did not like the feeling of knowing that I was one of the only ones that couldn't understand what I was learning or what people were saying since English was my second language. This is why I would want to create a device or an app that can help people out in school or in their everyday lives. This can be a device that can make the life of others easier like a device to help out color blind people or a device to help those with disabilities. As well as an app or device to help others out at school. For example, there can be a device where a type of robot can help a student out by studying and get better in school or a device that they can carry around that can help them calm down from the stress of school. These are some ideas I can think of that I would like to see undergo a revolution.
