My educational goal is to attend the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where I will continue my volleyball career while studying psychology, sports medicine, and neuroscience. I have always been interested in understanding how the mind and body work together, especially in athletes. Through my college education, I hope to gain the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to make a positive impact on the lives of others. I believe education is one of the most powerful tools a person can have, and I am excited to continue learning while preparing for my future career. As a student-athlete, I have experienced firsthand the physical and mental challenges that come with sports. Volleyball has taught me discipline, teamwork, leadership, and perseverance. It has also shown me how important mental health and physical wellness are when it comes to success. Throughout my athletic journey, I have faced obstacles that tested my confidence and determination. One of the hardest challenges I faced was losing my grandfather, someone who meant the world to me and always encouraged me to pursue my dreams. His passing was devastating, but it motivated me to work even harder and make him proud. I have also experienced difficult situations within athletics that taught me how to stay focused on my goals even when others doubted me. Those experiences have inspired me to pursue a career where I can help people overcome challenges and become the best versions of themselves. Throughout college, I plan to maintain strong academic performance while continuing to grow as a volleyball player. I want to take advantage of internships, research opportunities, and hands-on experiences that will prepare me for my future career. I understand that college will be challenging, but I am ready to put in the work necessary to succeed. Being able to compete at the collegiate level while earning a degree is an opportunity that I do not take for granted. My professional goal is to work in a field that combines psychology, sports medicine, and neuroscience. I hope to help athletes and other individuals improve both their physical and mental well-being. Whether that involves sports medicine, rehabilitation, mental health services, or research, I want to be in a profession where I can make a meaningful difference. I want to help people who may be struggling with injuries, stress, anxiety, or other challenges by giving them the support and resources they need to succeed. In addition to building a successful career, I hope to be a positive role model for younger students and athletes. I want them to see that setbacks do not determine their future. Through hard work, perseverance, and dedication, it is possible to overcome challenges and achieve goals that may seem out of reach. I hope to inspire others to believe in themselves and continue striving for success no matter what obstacles they face. My ultimate goal is to use my education not only to build a successful future for myself but also to improve the lives of those around me. I truly believe that attending an HBCU will provide me with the support, education, culture, and opportunities needed to become the person I have dreamed of being since I was a little girl. With the help of this scholarship, I will be one step closer to achieving the goals that little J’nyah always imagined for herself. I am determined to make the most of every opportunity, honor the sacrifices my family has made, and create a future that makes them proud.

My upbringing has had a significant impact on the person I am today. It taught me the importance of resilience, hard work, and staying determined even when life becomes challenging. Growing up, I learned that success is not handed to you and that achieving your goals requires dedication, patience, and a strong support system. My family has always encouraged me to work hard and strive for more, and those values have guided me throughout my life. One of the people who influenced me the most was my grandfather. He was someone I admired deeply because of his strength, kindness, and work ethic. He always encouraged me to believe in myself and to never give up on my dreams, no matter how difficult things became. Losing him was one of the hardest experiences I have ever faced. There were moments when I felt lost and struggled to process such a major loss. However, instead of allowing that experience to stop me, I chose to use it as motivation. I wanted to make him proud and continue pursuing the goals he always encouraged me to chase. His lessons continue to guide me every day, and they remind me to keep moving forward no matter what obstacles I face. Another challenge that shaped me was my experience as a student-athlete. Volleyball has been a major part of my life, and while it has brought many opportunities, it has also come with difficulties. There were times when I felt discouraged by a coach who did not always make me feel supported or valued. Those experiences tested my confidence and made me question myself. However, they also taught me how to advocate for myself, trust my abilities, and remain focused on my goals. I learned that other people’s opinions do not determine my worth or potential. The challenges I faced in athletics helped me become mentally stronger and more determined to succeed. Because of my upbringing and experiences, I want to build a new legacy based on perseverance, education, and service to others. This fall, I will attend the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff on a volleyball scholarship while pursuing studies in psychology, sports medicine, and neuroscience. My goal is to use my education and experiences to help others overcome challenges, whether they are struggling physically, mentally, or emotionally. I want my legacy to show that difficult circumstances do not have to define a person’s future. I hope to inspire others, especially young athletes and students, to continue pursuing their goals despite setbacks or hardships. By turning my experiences into motivation and using my education to help others, I hope to create a positive impact in my community and honor the values my family has instilled in me. Everything I have been through has prepared me to build a future that not only improves my own life but also allows me to make a difference in the lives of others.

One thing I want to build is a future where I can make a positive difference in people’s lives through both healthcare and athletics. As I prepare to attend the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff on a volleyball scholarship, I am working toward degrees in psychology, sports medicine, and neuroscience. My goal is to build a career that allows me to help athletes and others overcome both physical and mental challenges. Building this future has not always been easy. Throughout high school, I faced obstacles that tested my strength and determination. One of the hardest experiences was losing my grandfather, someone who had a huge impact on my life and always encouraged me to chase my dreams. I also had to overcome challenges within my athletic career, including dealing with a coach who often made me doubt myself. Those experiences taught me resilience and showed me that growth comes from pushing through difficult situations rather than giving up when things become hard. I want to build a life that reflects the values my grandparents taught me: hard work, kindness, and perseverance. By studying psychology, sports medicine, and neuroscience, I hope to gain the knowledge needed to support others during some of the most challenging moments of their lives. Whether I am helping an injured athlete return to their sport, supporting someone’s mental health journey, or conducting research that improves patient care, I want my work to have a meaningful impact. This goal will positively affect both me and my community. For me, it represents the opportunity to turn my experiences into something greater than myself. For my community, it means having someone who is committed to helping others succeed, heal, and reach their full potential. I believe that when people are given support, encouragement, and access to resources, they are more likely to achieve their goals and give back to others as well. As I continue my journey as a student-athlete, I am building more than just a career. I am building a future centered on service, leadership, and making a difference. Through education, athletics, and perseverance, I hope to create opportunities not only for myself but also for the people and communities I will serve in the future.
