When I was in 5th grade, we were assigned to write an essay on what we strived to do in the future. Many of my classmates picked the standard jobs everyone wanted as children. Some wanted to be a doctor, a firefighter, a veterinarian, even the president! Not me though. I wrote my essay on wanting to be an Animator. I'm a first generation student from the Rio Grande Valley. Being Hispanic and from a family that does not encourage a path in the arts, I really want to prove to my family that what I'm doing isn't useless. Growing up I've loved watching cartoons, anime, and even random animations online. This sparked the passion to start creating things on my own. I've been practicing Digital Art ever since I was about 10 years old, and I've come a long way skillwise since then. A future goal of mine is to just make an impact on the world. I'm sure many artists have said this before, but I want to create something just as meaningful to other people as the things I enjoyed growing up. Working in the industry as a professional animator is another big dream I have. It's what I am studying hard for, it's what I've wanted to pursue since I was 10.

As a first-generation immigrant, I found it difficult to find the support I needed to pursue an arts degree. I am told that pursuing the arts is worthless, but I disagree. The way I plan to make a positive impact on the world with my art is to create something for everyone of all ages to enjoy. Growing up, I loved watching all kinds of cartoons, anime, and even animation YouTubers. Because of this, I started to aspire to become an Animator myself. I want to create the same joy and passion for other people, the way I was influenced growing up. I want my contributions to be seen worldwide and have dozens of people gush over what I have helped make, the same way I did. If I can be a part of this, this cycle of inspiration, passion, and joy, it would be a dream come true. This is how I plan to create a positive impact in the world.
