Uniball's Skilled Trades Scholarship
Losing both of my parents has been one of the hardest obstacles I have ever had to overcome. Their deaths changed my life and forced me to grow up in ways I never expected. There were times when it would have been easy to lose motivation or become discouraged, but instead, I decided that I had to keep moving forward. I carry the lessons they taught me with me every day, and I want to build a future that would make them proud. One of the biggest goals I have set for myself is to build a successful career in the skilled trades, specifically electrical work. For the past two years, I have gained hands-on experience working in electrical and property maintenance. I have learned that skilled trades are about much more than simply fixing something. They require problem-solving, patience, responsibility, attention to detail, and a willingness to keep learning. Every repair I have worked on has given me another opportunity to improve my skills and become more confident in what I can do. I recently enrolled in the electrical program at Lincoln Tech because I know that hands-on experience is only part of becoming a great tradesman. I want to strengthen my technical knowledge, learn the proper methods and safety practices, and become the kind of electrician people can trust. I am attending school while continuing to work because I am determined to create a better future for myself through hard work and education. Skilled workers are important because they keep our communities functioning. Homes, businesses, apartments, schools, and other buildings all depend on people who know how to build, repair, install, and maintain the systems we rely on every day. When an electrical system fails, a pipe breaks, or something needs to be repaired, skilled workers are the people who step in and solve the problem. These careers provide an essential service, and I believe they deserve the same respect as any other profession. My long-term goal is to use my education and experience to build my own company, Martek Integrated Solutions. I want to provide electrical, maintenance, and property services while building a reputation for honest, dependable, quality work. Eventually, I also want to create opportunities for other people who want to enter the trades, especially those who may not have had an easy path themselves. Receiving the Bick Vocational/Trades School Scholarship would help me continue my education and overcome some of the financial challenges that come with attending trade school. It would help with expenses such as tuition, tools, transportation, and other costs that come with preparing for a career in the trades. My parents are no longer here to see the person I am becoming, but their memory motivates me to keep going. I have experienced loss, but I refuse to let that loss define my future. I want to turn my obstacles into motivation, my experience into a career, and my skills into something that can help others. Becoming a skilled electrician and building a successful business is more than a career goal for me—it is part of the life I am determined to create.

Track to the Trades
My personal goal is to build a successful career in the skilled trades, specifically in electrical work, while continuing to grow my knowledge and experience in other areas of property maintenance. I want to become someone who can walk into a home or property, identify a problem, understand how to fix it correctly, and take pride in the work I leave behind. More importantly, I want to build a career that gives me stability while creating opportunities for me to eventually provide those same opportunities for other people. Over the past two years, I have gained hands-on experience doing electrical and maintenance work. Working in property maintenance has taught me that the trades are about much more than knowing how to use a tool. They require patience, problem-solving, attention to detail, communication, and the willingness to keep learning. I have worked on electrical issues, appliances, plumbing problems, painting, carpentry, and many other repairs. Every job has taught me something new and has made me more confident that the skilled trades are where I belong. Even though I have gained experience in the field, I know that experience alone is not enough. That is why I enrolled in the electrical program at Lincoln Tech. I am currently attending school at night so that I can continue working while building the education and technical foundation I need for my future. My goal is to take the knowledge I gain in school and combine it with the hands-on experience I already have to become a highly skilled and dependable electrician. One of my biggest long-term goals is to build my own company, Martek Integrated Solutions. I want to grow it into a business that provides electrical work, maintenance, carpentry, and other property services to homeowners and rental property owners. I want my company to be known for quality work, honesty, and treating people with respect. I also want to create opportunities for other people who may be trying to find their way into the trades, just as I am doing now. Receiving the Track to the Trades scholarship would help me move closer to these goals by reducing some of the financial pressure that comes with pursuing a skilled-trades education. Paying for school, transportation, tools, and everyday expenses while working and attending classes can be difficult. This scholarship would allow me to put more of my focus and energy into my education instead of constantly worrying about how I am going to cover the next expense. It would also help me obtain the tools and resources necessary to continue developing my skills. I do not look at this scholarship as simply financial assistance. I see it as an investment in the person I am working to become. I have already made the decision to pursue the trades, go to school, work hard, and build a future for myself. What I need now is the opportunity to keep moving forward. My goal is not just to have a job. I want to build a career, become a skilled professional, own a successful business, and eventually help others find their own path in the trades. The Track to the Trades scholarship would help me take another important step toward making that future a reality.
