Bio

I am Jiya, a high school senior aspiring to pursue computer science applied to the medical field. I'm involved in leadership, robotics, advanced competition mathematics, and artistic pursuits in my spare time. I grew up very anxious and timid, but throughout high school, I've grown through several leadership experiences, including being Student Government President and Editor-in-Chief for three journalism committees. I'm primarily interested in research, having completed several projects in applied data science studying school shootings, breast cancer, and theoretical computer science. I am vested in improving women's healthcare, especially in underserved areas. So far, I have raised over $20,000 for my non-profit, Youth Together, to combat cervical and breast cancer in Indian women with free HPV vaccinations and mammography. My work aims to fight current issues within the health system, and I hope to continue applying my skills to contribute to the community. To do this, I aim to complete an undergraduate degree in CS and then attend medical school, which requires considerable expenses. I can continue my work and dedicate my time to building a better future by receiving a scholarship.
