Bio

My life goal is to hopefully get enough financial aid or scholarship money to attend the University of Houston or Houston Christian University to get into a nursing program and become a cosmetic nurse! I’m very passionate about music and singing and want to attend a university that has a successful choir program. I’m very into skincare and makeup and beauty products which is why I’m extremely interested in the aesthetic and cosmetic side of nursing!

The community that has impacted me the most in my life would definitely be my choir family. In high school I decided to do something I had always wanted to do which was join choir. It took me a while to join, although I loved signing my whole life. I joined so late because of the fear I had of singing in front of others.I knew as soon as I walked into the choir room that this community/choir family would be the people that would be by my side the rest of my high school journey. It was so thrilling to see how everyone sang around the room or were so excited about music and had that passion in their eyes when they would talk about it; just as I did. Of course when I would sing around the house with my family they'd tell me “ Jimena be quiet!” “ Jimena you're always singing…shhhh” but the people and the energy of the room was unjudgmental and calming but also exciting and energetic. My sophomore year was a great year in choir.I was introduced to officers who were the leaders that were voted by the choir community; I enjoyed helping them a lot.Junior year I was in varsity which was very exciting, I became much more involved with volunteering, although I wasn't an officer I also tried to donate as much as I could not only with food but of course with my time. Senior year was the year I became an officer! I was voted the chaplain title by my other choir peers. I was a lot more involved and was able to be with the underclassmen because of the dual classes I was taking. I tried my best to teach the underclassmen the things I knew about singing and sightreading, I wanted them to feel and see that same passion and energy that I had seen when I walked into the choir room. I tried my best to portray that energy when I would be there, I sang with them as much as I could to be their leader and would also help. The connection I built with my choir community is unmatched, this choir will always have my heart and I thank my directors for teaching me to be resilient, when I would have difficult pieces or had to learn 9 songs in a month they gave us hope and encouraged us that we would be the best we could be if we put the Time and energy to it. Again, I wanted the underclassmen to also understand those words, to “always try your best and they will be the best!”Why? Because failure is not an option! Ultimately, everyone can have a community. Some just like to be a part of it and listen and apply it to their life. In my opinion that's so great, but its also so important to teach it to the younger generations to impact them as well, lets not be selfish!! I'm so greatful I had the opportunity to impact the youngins of Angleton choir, and I hope I made an impact to them just as the upperclassmen when I was a sophomore impacted me and made my passion grow more and more. My name is Jimena Arevalo Mendoza , and I am a high school senior with a passion for helping others, love for the arts, and a special interest in healthcare and aesthetics. I have always believed that I must be a career professional who can touch the lives of others, and nursing offers just the right balance of compassion, clinical skill, and personal interaction. What I believe is most attractive about nursing is the possibility of working hands-on while building trust with patients/clients . I've always been the kind of person that others feel comfortable around, from my teachers and classmates to the younger students I mentor through student council or choir . I like being a place where people feel comfortable, heard, and cared for and I believe those are the same characters that create a good nurse. I plan to start my career by attending a university or a community college and completing my prerequisites to get into nursing school. From there, I plan to get a program in nursing so that I can become a registered nurse (RN), then continue further and obtain my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). My ultimate goal is to become a cosmetic nurse, whereby I can combine my love of beauty and aesthetics with my desire to make people feel confident and empowered in their own skin. I became interested in cosmetic nursing due to the powerful role that appearance and self-esteem can play in a person's life. I believe that being good-looking and feeling good-looking can often make a difference in how we feel on the inside and I'd like to be a part of a career where people can go after that kind of balance responsibly and safely, medically. In preparation for this career path, I’ve focused not only on academics but also on leadership, creativity, and communication. I’ve taken science courses like biology and honors chemistry to build a strong foundation for the medical field. I’ve also been actively involved in student council, where I’ve developed skills in organization, public speaking, and teamwork. These experiences have taught me how to lead with empathy and collaborate effectively, both essential qualities in nursing. In addition to that, music has also been a big factor in my life. I have been actively engaging in choir and piano, and I believe music has taught me patience, discipline, and empathy with other people. Music, just like nursing, is the universal language which can heal and console individuals. I plan onbringing that same calmness and empathy with me into my nursing practice in the future. To become a nurse, particularly one in the cosmetic industry takes dedication, empathy, and an ongoing commitment to learning. I look forward to the journey ahead, and I'm ready to begin with an open heart and a clear head. I know that nursing will not always be easy, but I also know that the ability to make other people feel their best both physically, emotionally, and mentally will make every difficulty worth it. I also found this scholarship on going merry! A very helpful app to apply for scholarships

Although my future career will be aesthetic nursing, a passion I have had since I was little has always be singing.Which is what I will be talking about today as someone who has been very passionate about music and the choir program it has driven me to put an immense amount of time into the choir program, and it has been a pleasure to do so. I had an opportunity to become an officer this year which gave me the chance to do more for choir. Although I did join choir my sophomore year, I was hesitant to join all middle school and freshman year because of my fear of singing in front of people.I thankfully got over that and decided to join choir because singing and music had been such a big passion in my life. Sophomore year I was in the “wildcat singers” class and immediately fell in love with how much everyone was so interested in singing as much as I was. I knew that I had found the environment and people I wanted to be around the rest of my high school journey. Junior year I made it to varsity and was super happy because it was only my second year of choir ever. I started to become more familiar with the varsity class and the high expectations Stewart and Perez had for us and I believe because of those expectations I grew very fast with my singing, and not only my singing but with my academics. I would remember the “failure is not an option” poster that I would see above the ensemble room, and applied it to everything I did, which is something I was not used to. I was used to just giving my 60% in everything I did, but because of choir I became someone who drove to do their best.I tried my best to be as helpful as I could although I was sometimes scared of judgement. I tried my best in learning my music. Being musical and intentional, being a section leader, knowing my part!!!.Towards the end of my junior year I knew that I wanted to be an officer my last year of choir and I strove to reach that goal, and I did it!! I became the chaplain for the 24-25 school year, Being an officer has taught me so much about leadership and the importance of working together in a group.I am so grateful I got the opportunity to do more for angleton choir, because that's what I wanted to do , I wanted angleton choir to be the best it could be. There will always be problems big or small, but the important thing is how we handle those situations and I believe that us officers were able to handle things well this year, because it isn't all about me it's about what we all did this year as officers. I believe I am worthy of this scholarship because along with being a leader of this choir, I have tried my best to contribute to having that positive attitude so there is a great environment for all,Which is something that this choir is known for. The positive environment is a reason I love this choir so much, but I also wanted to encourage everyone to be the best they can be. Which is something that helped me become the person I am, and will continue being heading towards my college journey.
