Bio

My name and my GPA do not really tell you much about me so let me introduce myself really quickly. My name is Jillian Valdez and I am a very passionate and hard working person. I am working towards being a first generation rancher and it is a long windy road but not the one that makes you sick, the one that makes you want to go faster and makes your stomach leap and your heart pound with excitement for the next curve and fast bump. So far it has all been worth it. I am a Senior at Sanger High School as well as an active member of Sanger FFA. I am involved with our livestock show team, as well as the labor and delivery team and apart of Apache Floral. I have also competed in speaking competitions along side all of that. A major experience that has shaped my love for agriculture is being a part of the Boer goat show team. Through that I have learned a lot of the “in’s and out’s” of the show ring as well as how much work goes into your market animal. The process of raising your own animal from start to finish isn’t something that you can just learn from the books, you have to actually do it and get your hands dirty to know the true work it takes. I have been lucky enough to have that experience for the last 2 years now. I have a lot of hopes and dreams but only have the ability to do the grunt work for now in order to pave the path for my future. This is the one that I truly believe in for myself and my future. I believe I am a very deserving candidate that can honestly make an amazing impact in the agriculture industry.

My name is Jillian Valdez and I didn’t grow up directly in agriculture, but I grew up around it and over time I developed a genuine passion for it. Being exposed to livestock and the agricultural community helped me realize how important animal science is and how much dedication it takes. Because of these experiences, my academic goal is to pursue a degree in animal science with a focus on livestock management. I want to gain the education and hands-on experience needed to make a positive impact in the agricultural industry. Through studying animal science, I hope to learn more about animal nutrition, genetics, reproduction, health, and sustainable livestock practices. Livestock management is not just about caring for animals, it requires responsibility, leadership, and scientific knowledge. I am especially interested in improving animal welfare while also making sure operations are efficient and sustainable. In the future, I hope to manage or operate my own livestock enterprise where I can apply what I have learned and continue to improve. I also hope to encourage other people who are interested in agriculture, just as others have encouraged me. My commitment to serving others is shown through my involvement with after-school and summer programs at Fresno Christian Schools. Working with elementary and middle school students has helped me grow in patience, leadership, and responsibility. I assist with homework, supervise activities, and help create a safe and positive environment for students. Being a role model to younger kids has taught me the importance of consistency and encouragement. These experiences have strengthened my communication skills and prepared me for leadership roles in both college and my future career. I also serve as the secretary for Patient Feather Ranch and Rescue, a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing and caring for animals. In this role, I help organize records, assist with communication, and support fundraising efforts. Being part of this organization has given me real-world experience in animal care and shown me how much effort it takes to run a nonprofit successfully. It has strengthened my desire to work in animal science because I have seen firsthand how proper management and organization directly affect the well-being of animals. These experiences have shaped my character and taught me humility, compassion, and servant leadership. I have learned that leadership is not about recognition but about consistently showing up and serving others. Receiving this scholarship would greatly support me in reaching my academic and career goals. College is a major financial commitment, and this scholarship would help reduce that burden so I can focus more on my education and gaining valuable experience. It would allow me to participate in internships, leadership programs, and hands-on agricultural opportunities that will prepare me for a career in livestock management. This scholarship would not only invest in my education but also in the future communities I hope to serve. I am committed to working hard, continuing to grow, and using my degree to promote responsible animal care and strong agricultural practices. With dedication and faith, I am determined to make a meaningful difference in the field of animal science and beyond.
