Most will say junior year of high school is the hardest. However, I beg to differ. A teacher once told me sophomore year would pose the greatest challenges. And looking back, I couldn't agree more. But why? What about sophomore year makes it so dreadful? Maybe it's the age, or perhaps it was the fact we were in lockdown. Nonetheless, one factor significantly contributed to the turbulence—uncertainty. I was in a weird position where I didn't know what to make of myself. I felt a deep sense of disorientation, and not knowing what was to come was internally excruciating. But amidst all the uncertainty, a video appeared, like an answer to my prayers. The video consisted of all the countries to which a pilot had been. The beautiful sceneries, cultures, and history were more than enough to captivate me. And just like that, something inside me shifted. I knew exactly what I aspired to do in life. In college, I wish to go deeper into the field of aviation. I see myself going into aeronautical science to help develop my understanding of flight. Ultimately, my goal is to become an airline pilot. And since the major airlines are known for their competitiveness, having a degree to back up my knowledge can come in handy. Most students go into college not knowing what career they would like to pursue. They sometimes wonder if college is even the right choice for them. And although plans don't always work out, I'm grateful to know that my higher education will not be time or money gone to waste. It'll help me become the best professional I can be, and I truly can't wait to commence my journey, both in college and the "real world." I'm now thrilled, to say the least, because my mind and heart are set on becoming a pilot. In ten years, I see myself sitting in a cockpit, flying across the vast skies. I see myself not only as a commercial pilot but as a well-rounded individual who's gained consciousness and wisdom. Perhaps one of the greatest perks of being a pilot is the ability to travel and enrich your knowledge of the world, creating awareness. And with that awareness, I want to help improve the lives of those less fortunate than me. Additionally, if circumstances permit, I would love to facilitate others' journeys in this field, as opportunities like these do. If I were granted this scholarship, I'd be taking the first steps towards a less constrained life, of which I'll be taking full advantage to better the aviation community and the world.
