Hello! I am an 18 year old aspiring UI/UX designer! I describe myself as analytical, compassionate, and ambitious. Marveling at everyday design has always been something I enjoyed. Whether it be print or digital, I have always been attracted to the arrangements of fonts, hierarchy, and color in professional design layouts. Being a creative and practical person can be a dichotomy, and User Interface and User Experience meshes both of these traits. UI/UX design is a career route that is compatible with my future goals, as I can continue my design journey while keeping up with modern trends.

Home Delivered Groceries — To deliver groceries to elders in the neighborhood2025 – Present
Jeanne Murphy Scholarship: Compassion in Action
As many have shown generosity and compassion towards me, it always felt within my moral duty to help others in that same spirit. Living in a low income household, making things just a little bit easier at home after my parents worked was not something that was imposed on me in the form of "chores", but rather an innate trait I developed from my parents. I consistently saw compassion demonstrated from both sides of my family towards others. Whether that be buying a homeless person a warm lunch, helping a family member out of a financial situation, or simply providing me emotional support when I was having a problem in school, compassion has always been something engrained in me from my household. Although I demonstrated small acts of compassion towards my immediate household and social circle, there was always something that felt empty within me. I always felt that I wasn't doing enough. Whenever I heard of families struggling or crises across the world, I would always refrain to myself, "if each person in the world would commit to a cause within their neighborhood, the entire world would be a better place." However, I always questioned the stance I held within my own moral philosophy. Was I demonstrating assistance to my full potential? What am I really contributing to my community as a whole? As a result, I signed up for the Home Delivered Groceries Program in San Francisco’s Richmond Neighborhood. My job is to deliver groceries to disabled elders within the community. The struggle of the heavy bags while trekking up the doorway hold no weight compared to the smiles of the faces I encounter. Knowing that an elder has sustainable food for the week fills me with immense satisfaction and a sense of responsibility. The HDG allows me to connect to a diverse community while helping me foster the change I wanted to see. Moving forward, I aim to continue working with the HDG to build lifelong connections and legacies of compassion towards elders. As for my aspiring career in UI/UX design, I plan to elevate the creative voices of underrepresented communities in my work, and help companies who value the impact of compassion to establish meaningful brand identities to foster healthy client-business relationships. I want the concepts I design to feel inclusive and safe for all involved in my work, and I aim to contribute the revenue from my work to underserved communities.
