Bio

My life goals and aspirations include educating the public on making healthier, conscious decisions about the foods they consume to help reduce disease progression within the community. Additionally, I aim to apply my knowledge in nutrition to raise awareness about alternative methods for pain management and disease prevention through Nutritional Therapy, as it has been proven that food truly is medicine. I believe there is a time and place for both traditional and alternative medicine, and that the two can coexist and be integrated into a person’s therapeutic approach based on their medical situation. This belief fuels my passion and interest in Complementary and Alternative Medicine. Ultimately, my goal is to continue my education after completing my bachelor’s degree to become a Certified Nutrition Specialist by obtaining a Master of Science in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine, followed by a Doctorate in Clinical Nutrition. “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”-Hippocrates

HeySunday Scholarship for Moms in College
The decision to return to school while raising two children was not an easy one, but it was deeply inspired by my desire to create a better life for my family and serve my community through healthcare. As a mother, I have always put my children first. However, I came to realize that by investing in my education, I could not only uplift our future but also model determination, growth, and purpose for my children. My journey back to school was fueled by a passion for helping others. I have witnessed firsthand how many families, especially in underserved communities, struggle with limited access to preventive, holistic healthcare. I want to become a healthcare practitioner who listens, educates, and truly sees people, especially those who often feel overlooked. Education is the bridge that will allow me to transform that vision into reality. Returning to school has not been without its challenges. Balancing coursework, exams, and clinical preparation with parenting duties requires a level of time management, mental strength, and sacrifice that is difficult to describe. There are nights when I study long after my children are asleep and early mornings that begin with packing lunches and reviewing class notes at the same time. Financial pressure, fatigue, and self doubt have all made appearances along the way, but my commitment has never wavered. What has kept me going is the belief that my children are watching. They see their mother set goals, face obstacles, and keep moving forward. They see me fail sometimes, but they also see me get back up. I want them to understand that education is not just about personal success; it is about using what we learn to serve others and give back to the world around us. Managing my dual roles as a mother and student has taught me invaluable skills: organization, patience, resilience, and the importance of asking for help when needed. I have learned to embrace support from loved ones, to set clear priorities, and to be present in both roles even when it feels overwhelming. Through it all, I remain grounded in my purpose, knowing that each assignment, each late night of studying, and each sacrifice is part of a greater mission to create change through care. The HeySunday Scholarship speaks directly to women like me, mothers who are not giving up but rising up. Your support would allow me to focus more fully on my education, reduce the financial strain on my family, and ultimately reach more individuals in need of compassionate, informed healthcare. As the saying goes, "From tiny seeds, mighty trees grow". I am proud to be planting those seeds now in my family, in my education, and in the communities I hope to heal in the future.
      Divers Women Scholarship
As a mother of two, my days begin before the sun rises and often stretch long into the night. Between school drop offs, homework help, bedtime routines, and managing a household, I have come to understand what it truly means to pour love, patience, and resilience into others. But in the quiet moments, when the house is finally still, I focus on another mission that is equally close to my heart: pursuing a career in healthcare to serve families like my own. Motherhood has taught me how to care deeply, advocate fiercely, and listen intently. These are skills that are just as critical in healthcare as they are in parenting. It has also shown me the gaps in our health system, especially for women, children, and underserved communities. Through my personal experiences and through the lives of others I have worked with, I have seen how many families struggle to access the kind of preventative, root cause focused care they deserve. That is what drives me each day as I work toward my healthcare degree. I am motivated not only to improve lives but also to be the voice of compassion and change that so many need. Raising children while pursuing higher education is not easy. There are sacrifices, including missed sleep, limited budgets, and the constant juggle between giving my best to my family and investing in my future. But what fuels me is knowing that I am not only building a better life for my children but also showing them the power of purpose and perseverance. They see me study at the kitchen table after bedtime stories. They see me light up when I talk about how the body heals, how food can be medicine, and how stress impacts our well being. They are learning, through my journey, that being a caretaker can extend far beyond the home. It can be a calling. My goal is to become a healthcare practitioner who focuses on holistic, preventive care, particularly in communities where options are limited and people often feel unheard. I want to create a practice that combines education, empathy, and evidence-based care to help others truly heal rather than simply mask symptoms. Whether it is supporting a mother dealing with chronic fatigue or helping a young person struggling with digestive issues, I want to provide a safe, empowering space that I once needed myself. This scholarship resonates with me deeply because it honors women like me. It honors mothers who are not just raising children but also rising with purpose. Financial support means more than just covering tuition; it means more time to focus on studies, more room to breathe, and more strength to keep going. It means the world to my family and to the future families I will serve. As the saying goes, "From tiny seeds, mighty trees grow", I am planting those seeds today, both in my children and in my career, knowing that the fruits of this journey will touch many lives in the years to come.

Living in Atlanta, I have witnessed firsthand how health disparities and limited access to resources affect the well being of underserved communities. These experiences sparked my passion for holistic health and fueled my commitment to making a lasting difference through education, advocacy, and support. I believe that one of the most powerful ways to uplift a community is by empowering individuals to take control of their health and I am actively working to do just that. Currently, I support individuals from underserved backgrounds in reaching their health goals through holistic wellness education. I help clients better understand the root causes of their health challenges, whether related to digestion, hormonal imbalance, fatigue, or chronic stress. Many of the people I work with have never had access to this kind of personalized attention. Through one on one guidance, I provide actionable tools, from nutrition education to lifestyle shifts that help them take meaningful steps toward healing and balance. My approach is built on compassion and accessibility. I focus on listening deeply and offering practical, culturally relevant solutions, especially for those who have been overlooked or dismissed by the traditional healthcare system. I make it a point to break down complex health topics into understandable, empowering conversations. Whether it is helping a single mother in a high stress environment rebuild her energy or guiding a young adult struggling with gut issues to reconnect with their body, my goal is always to meet people where they are and help them move forward with confidence. After college, I plan to expand this work by creating a community based functional wellness practice that specifically serves low income and historically marginalized populations in Georgia. I envision a space where education, herbal medicine, and nutrition are integrated and accessible. I also want to offer free or sliding scale workshops on topics like blood sugar regulation, hormone health, and stress management, bringing preventive care to those who need it most. In addition to clinical work, I hope to mentor and train aspiring health practitioners from underserved backgrounds so they can return to their communities and offer care that is rooted in both science and empathy. Representation matters in healthcare, and I believe that creating a pipeline of informed, diverse wellness advocates can transform communities from the inside out. Trees for Tuition’s mission resonates deeply with me. Just like trees provide shade, shelter, and clean air, I want to offer comfort, guidance, and knowledge to those around me, especially in communities that have long been underserved. This scholarship would not only bring me closer to affording my education, but it would also plant another seed; one that will grow into a lifetime of giving back through accessible, community centered wellness. With your support, I will continue to nurture that vision, using my education and passion to help cultivate a healthier, more informed, and empowered Georgia, one individual and one neighborhood at a time. - "From tiny seeds, mighty trees grow."
      NE1 NE-Dream Scholarship
As a BIPOC individual, being myself has never felt like a neutral act, it has often felt like a decision with consequences. From a young age, I became aware that my identity, culture, and appearance came with assumptions, stereotypes, and expectations. Whether it was how I wore my hair, the foods I ate, or the way I spoke, I constantly navigated the tension between authenticity and assimilation. Self expression, for me, was not just a matter of style, it was survival. And yet, despite these challenges, I have learned to embrace who I am, not only because I deserve to, but because when I do, I thrive. The world often asks BIPOC individuals to shrink themselves in order to fit into a mold that was never made for us. But I have realized that my full self, my culture, my resilience, my lived experience is my greatest strength. When people are allowed to be themselves without fear of judgment or discrimination, something powerful happens. We begin to imagine, create, and lead with freedom. We begin to change the world. I have always dreamed of working in a field where I can blend creativity with community impact. I am passionate about holistic wellness and health equity, especially for marginalized communities who often lack access to resources. My goal is to build a career that helps people reclaim their health through culturally informed care, whether through nutrition, herbal medicine, or community based healing practices. I believe in a world where healthcare does not just treat symptoms but acknowledges the root causes; many of which are deeply tied to racism, poverty, and generational trauma. Being BIPOC has given me a unique lens through which I view the world. I do not just want to succeed for myself; I want to make space for others. I want to show the next generation that they do not have to choose between success and authenticity. That they can be proud of their roots, their culture, their identity, and still be powerful changemakers. This scholarship would help me focus more fully on my education and training without the heavy weight of financial burden. It would allow me to invest more deeply in my dream, to develop as a practitioner who does not just "fit in" to an existing system, but who helps reshape it for the better. Representation matters. Inclusive spaces matter. And when students like me are supported, the ripple effect can change entire communities. I am not just pursuing a degree, I am pursuing a mission. A mission to uplift, to heal, and to transform. And I know that being fully myself is not a barrier to that mission, it is the foundation of it.
Robert F. Lawson Fund for Careers that Care
From an early age, I experienced firsthand the challenges of living with a chronic illness, as I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. This experience shaped my understanding of the physical and emotional toll that diabetes can take, both on individuals and their families. Growing up, I witnessed how managing blood sugar levels, dealing with complications, and navigating the healthcare system were daily struggles. These challenges not only affected my own life but also ignited a passion in me to help others facing similar battles, inspiring me to pursue a career in healthcare to make a positive impact on the lives of those living with diabetes. Now, as I pursue a career in healthcare, my goal is to support and empower those living with diabetes through education, nutrition, and functional wellness strategies. I am particularly passionate about bridging the gap between conventional medicine and holistic approaches, helping individuals understand that managing diabetes is not just about medication but also about lifestyle choices, nutrition, and personalized care. Through my own journey with type 1 diabetes, I have come to deeply appreciate the importance of a comprehensive, personalized approach to health. Managing diabetes is not a one size fits all solution, and it requires more than just medication. It involves understanding the root causes of blood sugar imbalances, the role of nutrition, and the impact of lifestyle choices. This realization has driven my commitment to providing holistic support that empowers individuals with the knowledge and resources to make informed, proactive decisions about their health. I believe that by integrating both conventional and holistic strategies, we can create more effective, sustainable solutions for those living with diabetes. One of the key challenges I aim to address is the lack of accessible, preventive healthcare education for at risk individuals. Many people, especially in underserved communities, do not receive the guidance they need to make informed decisions about their health. This gap in knowledge often leads to preventable complications and a diminished quality of life. My approach emphasizes education, giving clients the tools they need to take charge of their health and break the cycle of chronic disease. Receiving this scholarship would be a tremendous help in furthering my education and expanding my ability to serve individuals with diabetes. It would allow me to pursue additional knowledge in my field of interest, deepen my knowledge, and create more resources for those in need. With this support, I will continue working toward my mission of transforming diabetes care through functional nutrition, education, and compassionate, individualized support. I am committed to making a lasting impact in the health community, ensuring that those with diabetes receive the care, knowledge, and resources they need to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives. Through my work, I aim to honor the legacy of Robert F. Lawson by dedicating my career to helping others, just as he did.
      Redefining Victory Scholarship
Success is often seen as a destination, an end goal that marks the pinnacle of achievement. However, for me, success is not about wealth or accolades; it is about making a meaningful impact in the health community, particularly in supporting individuals with diabetes. Having faced my own health challenges, I have developed a deep understanding of the perseverance and resilience required to overcome obstacles. These experiences have fueled my passion for helping others navigate their own health journeys, empowering them to take control of their well being. Living with health struggles has given me firsthand insight into the complexities of managing chronic conditions. I understand the frustration of searching for answers, the exhaustion of trial and error, and the emotional toll that health issues can take. However, these challenges have shaped me into someone who refuses to give up. They have strengthened my determination to educate, support, and advocate for those facing similar battles, particularly within the diabetic community. Diabetes is a condition that affects millions of people, yet many individuals struggle to find the guidance and resources they need to manage it effectively. My goal is to bridge that gap by providing compassionate support and evidence-based education that empowers individuals to live healthier lives. Whether it is through personalized nutrition counseling, lifestyle interventions, or simply offering a listening ear, I am committed to making a difference in the lives of those who feel overwhelmed by their diagnosis. My personal experiences have taught me that resilience is one of the most valuable traits a person can possess. There were times when my own health struggles made me feel hopeless, but I refused to let them define me. Instead, I used them as fuel to push forward, learn more, and find solutions that could not only help me but also benefit others. I have come to understand that success is not about avoiding hardship but about how we respond to it. It is about finding strength in adversity and using that strength to uplift others. This opportunity would allow me to further my education and expand my ability to serve others. By deepening my knowledge in functional nutrition, holistic health, and evidence-based interventions, I can provide even greater support to the diabetic community. My success is not measured by personal accolades but by the number of lives I can positively impact. Every person who gains confidence in managing their health, every individual who feels heard and supported, and every life that is improved because of my efforts is a testament to the success I strive to achieve. Furthermore, I believe in the power of community and collaboration. Success is not achieved in isolation, and I am committed to working with other health professionals, educators, and advocates to create a more supportive and informed network for those living with diabetes. Through workshops, online education, and one-on-one counseling, I hope to make quality health information more accessible and actionable for those in need. I firmly believe that true success lies in the ability to uplift others. By turning my own challenges into a source of strength, I have found my purpose in helping those in need. With the right education and resources, I can continue to break barriers, challenge misconceptions about diabetes, and empower individuals to lead healthier, happier lives. This scholarship would be a stepping stone toward that goal, enabling me to expand my reach and enhance the quality of care I provide. Success, to me, is not a solitary achievement but a shared journey, one where knowledge, compassion, and resilience come together to create lasting change in the health community. Through this opportunity, I hope to continue making a meaningful impact, proving that even in the face of adversity, we can rise, persevere, and help others do the same.
      Diabetes Impact Scholarship
Being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes has given me a unique perspective on the struggles that individuals with chronic autoimmune conditions face daily. Through firsthand experience, I have learned what it means to navigate a world that often lacks sufficient resources and support for those living with diabetes. My own journey has fueled my passion for helping others manage their health and overcome the obstacles associated with chronic illness. I aspire to become a medical professional who provides patients with an empathetic and nuanced understanding of managing chronic conditions. Having not only Type 1 diabetes but also other autoimmune conditions, I fully grasp the challenges that come with these diagnoses. The lack of proper healthcare access, the high costs of insulin and necessary medical supplies, and the daily struggle to maintain stable blood sugar levels are all battles I have fought personally. These experiences have shaped my desire to advocate for others and educate my community on ways to better manage their health. To achieve my goals, I plan to further my education by obtaining a Master of Science in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine, followed by a Doctorate in Clinical Nutrition. Becoming a Certified Nutrition Specialist will allow me to provide evidence-based, integrative healthcare solutions to those with autoimmune conditions and other chronic illnesses. Through my education and personal experience, I want to create programs and initiatives that make nutritional counseling and alternative medicine more accessible to the public. As a future Clinical Nutritionist, my goal is to empower individuals to make healthier, more informed choices about the foods they consume to help mitigate disease progression. I am deeply passionate about raising awareness regarding the power of nutritional therapy in managing chronic conditions, including autoimmune conditions and diabetes. It is well documented that food plays a crucial role in overall health, and I believe in the integration of both traditional and alternative medicine to develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each individual’s unique medical situation. My interest in Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) has further reinforced my commitment to bridging the gap between conventional medicine and holistic approaches. I firmly believe that there is a time and place for both, and by incorporating holistic and functional medicine principles into my practice, I aim to provide my patients with well rounded, sustainable solutions for managing their conditions. Many individuals in underserved communities do not have access to proper nutritional guidance, and I want to be a resource for those who need it most. By offering nutritional counseling and alternative pain management strategies, I hope to improve the quality of life for many who may otherwise struggle to find relief. Receiving this scholarship would be an invaluable stepping stone in my academic and professional journey. It would help alleviate the financial burdens of tuition, allowing me to focus on my studies and continue working towards my mission of helping others. Every bit of assistance makes a difference, and with this support, I can dedicate myself to learning and eventually giving back to my community in a meaningful way. Ultimately, my goal is to serve as a beacon of hope and guidance for individuals with chronic illnesses, particularly those struggling with chronic autoimmune conditions. I want to be an advocate, a mentor, and a healthcare provider who understands their struggles firsthand. By using my knowledge to educate and empower others, I hope to make a lasting impact on the lives of those who need it most.
      Special Delivery of Dreams Scholarship
Life is often unpredictable, and some challenges arise when we least expect them. One of the most significant obstacles I have faced was being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the cusp of my professional career. It was a difficult transition, as I had to balance the high cost of insulin, manage my condition while working and attending college simultaneously, and adjust to the limitations it placed on my physical activities. Activities I once loved, such as intense workouts and outdoor adventures, became daunting due to my fear of experiencing hypoglycemia, or dangerously low blood sugar levels. However, rather than letting my diagnosis define or limit me, I took control by educating myself about diabetes and how to manage it effectively. Through extensive research, consultations with healthcare professionals, and self-discipline, I learned to monitor my blood sugar levels, adjust my diet, and recognize my body's signals. By developing these strategies, I was able to regain confidence in my ability to perform at work, continue my studies, and even reintegrate some of my favorite physical activities into my routine. This experience has taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of self-advocacy skills that will benefit me for the rest of my life. Receiving this scholarship would be a tremendous help in my academic journey, as it would alleviate some of the financial burdens associated with tuition. Every bit of assistance allows me to focus more on my studies rather than stressing over finances. My goal is to earn a degree in nutrition and alternative medicine so that I can use my knowledge to give back to my community. With the education I receive, I aim to help others manage chronic conditions, improve their well-being, and make informed decisions about their health. Many individuals, especially in underserved communities, lack access to proper nutritional guidance and holistic healthcare approaches. With this scholarship, I can continue my education and later serve as a resource for those who need it most. By sharing what I have learned through both personal experience and formal education, I hope to empower others to take control of their health just as I did. Beyond my studies and professional aspirations, I also believe in fostering curiosity and lifelong learning in young people. One way to do this is by encouraging the pursuit of philately, the hobby of collecting and studying postage stamps. Philately is more than just a pastime, it offers a fascinating window into history, geography, and culture. To engage younger generations in this hobby, I would emphasize the storytelling aspect of stamps. Each stamp represents a piece of history, whether it commemorates a significant event, highlights a national hero, or showcases a rare and beautiful design. By organizing interactive workshops, school presentations, and community events, I would introduce young people to the excitement of stamp collecting. Additionally, integrating technology such as using digital stamps, collecting platforms and social media to share collections, can make philately more appealing to a generation raised in a digital world. In conclusion, my journey with Type 1 diabetes has taught me perseverance and the value of knowledge in overcoming challenges. This scholarship would provide essential financial support, allowing me to continue my education and give back to my community through nutrition and alternative medicine. Furthermore, I believe in the importance of encouraging young people to explore hobbies like philately, which can enrich their understanding of history and culture while fostering patience and curiosity. With the right support and guidance, I hope to make a meaningful impact both in healthcare and in inspiring the next generation of learners and collectors.
