My name is Jessie Yu and I am a rising senior majoring in Sociology and minoring in Social Data Science. As a disabled first-generation college student and the daughter of two immigrants, navigating the American educational system, especially the higher education system, has been a challenging path due to my lack of experience. These experiences sparked my interest in sociology, using research to connect the state of our educational infrastructure to housing, socioeconomic inequality, and other aspects of society. I am passionate about research and I am eager to pursue it in the future to devise methods of improving its accessibility and quality to future generations.
