I began an almost 10-year-long career with Murfreesboro City Police Department in 2014 at which point I was hired as a Dispatcher.
After almost a year of working in dispatch, I got hired onto patrol. Between then and December 2019, I maintained a patrolman position while taking on additional responsibilities as an FTO (Field Training Officer), being a member of CIT (Crisis Intervention Team), a certified Instructor, a DT (Defensive Tactics) Instructor, and a Background Investigator.
In December of 2019, I was accepted for a Criminal Investigator position in the Fraud Unit where I eventually obtained my CFE. I took on that position while still maintaining my responsibilities as a Background Investigator until my departure from the department in May of 2024.
I graduated with my Associates Degree (majoring in criminal justice, minoring in social sciences) in 2013. In 2018, I decided to return to college to obtain my Bachelors Degree in the same field, which I completed in March of 2021.
In June of 2025, an opportunity arose to get back into law enforcement as a Special Agent with the Office of Inspector General in which I happily accepted.
Unfortunately, God started pulling me in a different direction and I have welcomed this change with open arms. I have decided to return to school to get my MBA so I can enroll in a dietetics program to eventually get my Registered Dietician's license.

For many people, nutrition is viewed as simply a way to lose weight or improve appearance. However, research continues to prove that food plays a much deeper role in human health. Nutritional choices can influence inflammation, energy levels, immune function, mental health, and even the prevention or progression of chronic illnesses. If awarded this opportunity, I would use both my professional experience and my personal health journey to educate and assist patients and families in creating sustainable lifestyle changes that improve their overall quality of life.
My passion for nutrition and wellness became personal through my own struggles with autoimmune-related health issues. Living with chronic inflammation, fatigue, and the frustration of trying to feel “normal” opened my eyes to how deeply nutrition impacts the body. I learned firsthand how overwhelming it can be to navigate symptoms while also balancing work, family responsibilities, stress, and daily life. As someone who has worked in law enforcement for many years, I understand the physical and emotional toll that stress places on the body. There were times when convenience became more important than health, and I experienced how poor nutrition, lack of sleep, and chronic stress could worsen symptoms and negatively affect overall well-being.
Through my own journey, I began researching anti-inflammatory nutrition, gut health, and the connection between food and chronic disease. I discovered that small, consistent changes often create the biggest results. Learning how to nourish my body instead of simply restricting foods changed not only my physical health, but also my mindset. That experience inspired me to pursue a future in nutrition and holistic wellness so I can help others feel empowered instead of defeated by their health challenges.
If awarded, I would focus on educating patients and families in a practical, realistic, and compassionate way. Many people know they should “eat healthier,” but they do not know where to begin. Others feel discouraged because healthy living can seem expensive, time-consuming, or unattainable. I would work to simplify nutrition by teaching families how to make gradual lifestyle changes that fit into their everyday lives. This could include meal planning on a budget, reading food labels, reducing processed foods, managing inflammation through nutrition, and creating healthier habits that involve the entire family.
I also believe education should address the emotional side of health. Chronic illness impacts more than the body; it affects confidence, relationships, mental health, and quality of life. Patients deserve support that recognizes the whole person, not just their diagnosis. I would strive to create an environment where people feel heard, encouraged, and capable of improving their health one step at a time.
My long-term goal is to combine my background in public service with my passion for nutrition to help individuals live healthier and fuller lives. Having personally experienced the challenges of autoimmune-related illness, I understand the importance of empathy, education, and support. I want to help others realize that while nutrition may not cure every disease, it can be a powerful tool for healing, prevention, and improving quality of life for both patients and their families.

Higher education is more than a degree to me—it is the bridge between the life I have already built and the future I am determined to create. As a Special Agent for the State of Tennessee, I have spent years serving others through law enforcement and investigations. My career has taught me discipline, resilience, leadership, and the importance of integrity. While I am proud of the work I have done, I also know that my long-term purpose extends beyond my current role. Pursuing higher education will allow me to transform my passion for helping people into a meaningful business that promotes health, healing, and wellness.
Throughout my career in law enforcement, I have seen firsthand how stress, trauma, poor nutrition, and mental health struggles impact individuals and families. I have worked with people during some of the hardest moments of their lives, and over time, it has changed my perspective on health. I began to realize that true wellness is not only physical, but emotional and mental as well. This realization sparked my desire to pursue a future in holistic health and nutrition. My goal is to become a Registered Dietitian and eventually build a business that helps people improve their health in realistic, sustainable ways.
Higher education is essential to achieving that goal. Earning an MBA alongside my nutrition and dietetics education will give me the knowledge and skills needed to successfully operate a business with confidence and professionalism. While passion is important, building a successful company requires far more than passion alone. I want to understand financial management, marketing, leadership, operations, and strategic planning so that I can create a business that not only survives, but thrives. Education will help me bridge the gap between having a vision and having the ability to execute it effectively.
As a wife, mother, and homeschool educator, pursuing higher education also carries a deeply personal meaning for me. I want my children to grow up watching their mother chase her goals, even when life is busy and challenging. I want them to see that growth does not stop after adulthood and that it is never too late to reinvent yourself. By continuing my education, I am not only investing in my own future, but also setting an example of perseverance, lifelong learning, and determination for my family.
My experiences in law enforcement have also prepared me well for higher education and entrepreneurship. Investigative work requires problem-solving, communication, critical thinking, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. These same skills will help me succeed academically and professionally as I transition into the business and health fields. I believe my unique background gives me a perspective that will allow me to connect with people from all walks of life.
Ultimately, higher education represents opportunity, growth, and purpose for me. It is the foundation that will help me transition from a career centered on protecting people to one focused on helping them heal and thrive. By investing in my education now, I am building the future I envision for myself, my family, and the people I hope to serve through my future business.
