I recently earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) from Texas A&M University–Kingsville, passed the Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) licensure examination, and will begin the Doctor of Social Work (DSW) program at Angelo State University this fall. As a first-generation college graduate and former single teen mother, my educational journey has been shaped by resilience, determination, and a commitment to creating opportunities for others. I work in higher education, supporting students who have paused their education and are ready to complete their degrees. Many are non-traditional learners whose experiences mirror my own. I connect students with financial and academic resources, advocate for their success, and help them overcome barriers that once seemed impossible. My lived experience allows me to serve with empathy, authenticity, and purpose. I am passionate about expanding access to mental health services, strengthening underserved communities, and improving educational outcomes for non-traditional students. As I begin earning the supervised clinical hours required for LCSW licensure, I look forward to growing as a clinician while continuing to advocate for individuals and families facing systemic barriers. My goal is to use clinical practice, research, leadership, and higher education to increase access to quality mental health care, promote educational equity, and empower others to achieve their full potential.
