    Bold Selfless Acts Scholarship
    Throughout high school, I have participated in a college-readiness program called Avid. This course taught me that good students give back to their community, and every year, I do 20 more hours of community service than the last. I've done all sorts of community service, from cleaning up and beautifying schools, tutoring and supervising younger students in afterschool programs, and devoting as much of my time as possible to clubs and organizations at my school. Throughout the course of my community service, I’ve made friends with the kids I look after and the people I work with. I am a people person and I’m great with kids. If AVID didn’t influence me to participate in community service, I would not have made these special connections with people in my neighborhood. One of my favorite community service opportunities was at Walgrove elementary school. I helped to beautify both Walgrove as well as Santa Monica High School, but Walgrove was my favorite because I enjoyed seeing how the beautification affected the children. Before Covid, I helped create Walgrove elementary school's garden and recreation area by cleaning up trash left by the kids, planting California native trees and plants, and labeling those plants so the children could learn about the environment they live in. The kids ended up having a lot of fun in their new community garden, and teachers use the space to make learning more fun. With Covid, having a beautiful garden space where kids can socialize and still learn is essential, and I'm really proud that I contributed to that. I am going to San Francisco State University after high school. There isn't currently a student-run community service organization on campus, so I plan to start my own organization to help give back to the greater Bay Area/San Francisco community.

My career goal is to use my degree in Business Administration to start a foundation that raises money to help kids who are negatively impacted by homelessness, poverty, lack of education, abuse, and many more. The more we, as a society, can do for our children’s developmental health and if there’s any way that I can contribute to shielding them from those inadequacies of the world. From tutoring kids to making my neighborhood school a better place, I’ve always tried to be a vital member of my community. I’ll always try my hardest to give back to the community that shaped me into the person I am today. My college journey will help me gain the experience I’ll need to get a job helping those who need it, whether they're young, old, a student, impoverished, or homeless.
