Bio

I strive to look for education and work hard to build my future! I’ve always played soccer and basketball throughout elementary to high school to stay active and healthy. But also to make connections and learn from others. In high school, i took AP psych and english to learn more about myself and test my knowledge. I am a firm believer of God, and everything i do ends with a gratitude towards the strength God gives me. I pray that while im attending UNT i can get support with financial needs, however, i will do my part and work hard to achieve my goals and get my degree !

25% of teens grows up with a single parent. Im part of the 25%, and i was raised by a strong single mother who made everything happen. She’s my why. Growing up with an immigrant mom is something i’m proud to say. As i strive to look for my education, I remember the hard days my mom would barely make ends meet for our single bedroom apartment . Luckily, with the support from my grandma who is also an immigrant housekeeper, she helps keep her daughter stable. I can’t say i was financially “rich” but I was rich in the best way . My mom and grandma demonstrated hard work paying off in the best way . I would come home to a meal on the table everyday after school knowing my mom would come home from work tired. Now that i’m older, I looked for a job and Im currently working as a server at Olive Garden, whenever my mom comes home Im proud to say i make sure she has a meal on the table. I strive for a successful career and future so i can give back to my mother, and my grandma. My family is still middle class and my mom currently struggles with her job. But she has supported me with my decision to attend UNT and plans to accept loans . I know we have to pay that all back and she’s willing to work for it and so will i . However, this opportunity to win a scholarship is a blessing, i have faith that trying can bring you so far in life . This scholarship would help me cover the costs of attending this fall and studying kinesiology. I find that applying for these scholarships is very important because of the help it being with the cost of tuition and fees. I plan to use this scholarship to my advantage and work hard at UNT to prove how I won’t be taking this for granted . I hope to get involved, volunteer, and make connections to build my future. I want to get my bachelors and achieve being in the sports field . Kinesiology is a great major that take a lot of work and classes, even grad school. But Im willing to do what I can to make my family proud . I want to be the change and take care of my mom . She’s my why.
