Kathryn Graham "Keyport's Mom" Scholarship
WinnerJermaine Bardon´s Scholarship Essay
Getting a scholarship would be a good opportunity for many reasons. First, this scholarship would help lower the cost of college. Some examples are college tuition, books, housing, and other things that can also add up. Also receiving a scholarship would make it easier to focus more on the learning rather than worry about the money. With less stress about the money I am able to put more effort into my studies. Which leads to getting a degree.
Another reason a scholarship is beneficial is that it would take some pressure off of my Mom and also my Uncle about the money. This scholarship would help me a lot because I come from a background where my Mom was a single mother. She also had to take care of 3 children by herself. In my 17 years of age I moved 8 times from New Jersey to Maryland back to New Jersey to Florida and finally back to New Jersey. This scholarship would help not only me but her also.
A scholarship can help me take full advantage of the college experience. This scholarship would allow me to participate in volunteer work and also campus events. These events would help me meet new people and discover interests that may help me in future . Being able to participate in these opportunities would help me in the future such as being a leader or being able to talk in front of a crowd.
I also take dual enrollment classes for school this year. I take classes from Brookdale Community College. The classes are general study classes. The classes are English, Psychology, World history and English.
I believe I deserve a scholarship because I work hard both in school and in my community. One way I give back is by volunteering my time to help the middle school track team during community service hours. I enjoy encouraging younger athletes, helping them practice, and being a positive role model for them. Through this experience, I have learned responsibility, leadership, and teamwork. Receiving a scholarship would help me continue my education and achieve my future goals while continuing to support and inspire others in my community.
Finally, receiving this scholarship would allow me to focus on my education and goals without worrying about my financial problem. It can make graduating more achievable than what is now. A scholarship not only provides me with financial support but also helps me work without a worry.
