I am a single mother of two amazing humans. Their births and roles in my life have been a catalyst for me as a human being as nothing else has. They inspire me to grow and become the best I can be so I can provide the best life for them. One of my greatest life experiences was getting a divorce from their father.
I grew up with very high standards and expectations for how to behave as a woman and wife, and how long my marriage should last (which was for "time and all eternity", by the way). However, prior to getting married I wasn't aware of what Covert Narcissism was, or what qualifies as mental, emotional, or sexual abuse.
As such, I endured 8 years of cruelty, gaslighting, ridicule, teasing, body shaming, and mockery for my efforts to further my education, for reading books on personal development, child rearing, healthy relationships, neuroscience, psychology, and more. Finally last year after 8 years of trying to convince someone who had long decided I was worthless to them beyond what I could provide for them to make their lives easier; I took the steps to get divorced.
I am actually quite proud of myself for this, even though society wants me to see this as a failure or bad thing. I made that choice to show my children that we don't take less than we deserve from anyone. Furthermore, they deserve to grow up in an emotionally health and abuse free environment, and that was not going to be possible if their father and I stayed together.
Since leaving my husband and getting divorced, I have started college again, made it onto the Dean's List, been nominated and inducted into 3 collegiate honor societies including the National Society of Leadership and Success. My children are flourishing and continue to amaze and inspire me with their resilience, emotional acuity, and more.
I have goals to pursue a masters or doctorate in Occupation Therapy, and to one day open a wellness center offering massage (which is my current profession), OT, PT, acupuncture, holistic nutrition, equine assisted therapy, and more to help others heal, and learn, and feel supported in the healing they need after enduring any form of trauma or abuse. We all need some TLC from time to time regardless of past difficulties, so I aim to continue offering massage therapy services as a LMT, MMT (Medical Massage Therapist), and EMRT (Equine Myofascial Release Therapist) to take care of my human and equine healing partners alike.
I am so grateful for my children and all the courage they have given me to take the necessary steps to make my dreams, and a way to "pay it forward" possible.
Thank you for your consideration.
