Once upon a time in a bustling kingdom known as Educaria, there existed a school unlike any other. It was not built of gold or marble, but of colorful classrooms, growing minds, and endless possibility. In this kingdom, every child carried a different kind of magic; some could solve puzzles with ease, others could paint worlds with their imagination, and some saw the world in patterns and rhythms only they could understand. But not every child knew their magic yet. In the heart of Educaria lived a young teacher named Jennifer. She was once a student herself in the nearby land of Communication Studies, where she learned the power of words, listening, and human connection. Though she had earned her degree from California State University, Los Angeles, she still felt a calling she could not yet name. It was only when she entered the school kingdom as a Behavior Interventionist that she discovered her true purpose: helping children find their sense of presence in the world. Jennifer worked first as an aide, walking beside students who needed extra support. She noticed something important. Many of them were not only struggling with lessons—they were struggling to see themselves as capable learners. Some spoke softly as if their voices might disappear. Others hesitated before every answer, unsure if they were allowed to be right. A few had brilliant minds but carried frustration like heavy armor. Jennifer remembered a quote from an old scholar of the realm, Professor Harold Bloom, who once said, “The purpose of teaching is to bring the student to his or her sense of his or her own presence.” At first, she wondered what this meant. But over time, she realized it was not about simply teaching reading or math. It was about helping each child feel real, seen, and valuable within the classroom. So Jennifer made it her mission. Growing up, I never expected that I would pursue a career in education. My bachelor’s degree is in Communication, and after graduating, I struggled to find a career path that truly felt meaningful and fulfilling. It was not until I began working as a Behavior Interventionist in a school setting that I discovered my passion for helping students grow academically, emotionally, and socially. Working closely with students, especially those with learning disabilities, opened my eyes to the importance of patience, encouragement, and individualized support within education. As a Behavior Interventionist Aide, I primarily worked one-on-one with assigned students to help support their behavioral and academic goals. Through these experiences, I built meaningful relationships with students and gained a deeper understanding of the challenges they face in the classroom. Watching students gain confidence, improve their skills, and experience success became one of the most rewarding parts of my work. Being back in a classroom environment also helped me realize that education is where I truly want to build my future career. Before working in schools, I gained experience as a Behavior Technician in clinical and home settings, where I applied ABA techniques while working with children ranging from toddlers to teenagers. This experience allowed me to work with students from diverse backgrounds and with different developmental and learning needs. It also taught me important values such as empathy, patience, communication, and adaptability. These skills helped prepare me for my current role and strengthened my ability to support students both academically and behaviorally. My experiences working with children with disabilities have inspired me to continue my education and pursue a degree in the education field. I want to become more than a one-on-one aide and develop the skills necessary to guide, teach, and advocate for students in a classroom setting. One area I hope to continue improving is classroom management, as I understand the importance of creating a positive and productive learning environment that supports all students. I believe earning this degree will allow me to better support students with diverse learning needs while making a lasting impact on their educational experiences. I believe I deserve this scholarship because I am passionate about serving students and committed to continuing my growth as an educator. My experiences have shown me the importance of accessible and inclusive education for all students, especially those with learning disabilities. I want to help create environments where students feel supported, understood, and encouraged to reach their full potential. This scholarship would help ease the financial burden of continuing my education and allow me to focus on achieving my academic and professional goals. Receiving this scholarship would not only support my educational journey in a masters program, but it would also bring me one step closer to making a meaningful difference in the lives of students and families. I am determined to continue growing as an educator and advocate for inclusive education so that every child has the opportunity to succeed academically and personally.
