My mother was married to an amazing man. He was Police Officer as well as a Truck Drver for Hertz’s. My mother had seven boys and six girls ( no twins). My father didn’t want my mother to work so he provided for each and everyone of us, as life would have it. My father passed away when my mother was pregnant with the thirteenth child. My mother didn’t have any skills out side of the home. My grandmother moved out in with us. My mother went to school and she became a Nurse for over forty years. We received everything we needed and some of what we wanted. We didn’t have the luxury of eating out, yes we had pass down, pass around and hand me downs. We weren’t ever hungry, homeless or in the dark. She protected us all. She inspired me to want to become a nurse. I ended up inheriting my sister children, five to be exact. I will be an amazing Nurse. I was put on earth to make a difference in so many lives. I know that I have a compassionate heart for medicine. I have been in school for a while, because I couldn’t allow my sister children to be placed into the system. I knew, after going to court was going to be very challenging, and I also knew that I chive in or up on them. I also know that God is going to make a way for me to be in this platform to serve the people from all walks of life. The challenge is very strong and demanding. I have given my all towards school. I have completed one Semester, with two to go. I will be going into the accelerated program. There are so many things that interrupt your journey. You must stay in the fight and and stay focus knowing that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It is very important to take time for yourself. It is as equally important to make sacrifices to get through this process. It isn’t easy, as long as you can find a very supportive study group and/ or partner(s). I will stay in this fight until I have completed this. I have five girls of my own. I had to raise 10 children, some had birth and cognition issues. We made it over the many obstacles that was presented before us. We remained close and supportive to each other and we are like such to this day. I would greatly appreciate it if I received any amount of support. No amount is too small. Thank you for your time and effort to help me in my Journey. Jennifer Taylor

My Journey I am the ninth child of 13 children.( No twins) My father passed away when my mother was pregnant with the thirteenth child. I had a child at the tender age of fifteen, raped by a neighborhood friend. My mother didn’t believe in abortions. Had the baby. I received my (GED)diploma. I have been pursuing my dream for quite some time. I chose to create home for my siblings children as it was required to keep them together. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. The person that impregnated me became very violent, I was forced to move-out of State to live with my sister. She bared five children, she became addicted to drugs. I had the experience of Social Workers, Guardian Advocate (program that check up on you, to monitor if you’re coping), Judges to extend the temporary custody hearing ,going to court to prove they were safe, two of the children was addicted to crack- cocaine. I ended up taking care of all five of her children. I also had the blessing to care for my brother’s son, due to his incarceration. I had some dark days and nights. I was seventeen with seven children to care for, half of the time I didn’t know what to do or how to do it. I made several attempts to attend school, the challenges at times became too great to do school and be a parent to so many children. I prayed a lot for guidance, encouragement, and strength. I have struggled with life and questioning is it ever going to be possible to fulfill my dream. There has been so many times that I wanted to give up and throw in the towel, I would look those little faces and say “I can’t do that to them”. I not only wouldn't be able to live with myself, I wouldn’t have been able to answer for that. It would mean more than anything to me to receive a scholarship. I value life. My calling in life is to make someone feel good about themselves and to help others in a time of need. To be blessed to give back as much as I can is a honor. I would be able to get a life sustaining job to do what I love and enjoy doing, caring for others. I would have a lot of opportunities in the medical profession. I value second chances, I value perseverances and I value being able to make a living from the job and not be afraid to take risks. I would like to thank each and every one of you for your support and time. I am aware that you will receive a great deal of applications, I know that I will get why is meant for me.
