I was drawn to the field of opticianry because of my mom. My mom was an optician who brought me to all of her jobs from Manhattan to Nutley NJ. I spent many summers in labs watching glasses get fabricated. But my mother and I had a very challenging relationship growing up due to her alcoholism. Always searching for a way to feel closer , I got into the same field. It wasn’t into being in this field for many years did I realize what this was actually giving ‘me. A way to give back to others. To help someone without sacrificing myself. As I found fulfillment in helping others improve I knew then this was for me. Working as an optician allows me to make a positive impact on people's well-being and contribute to their community's eye care needs. Being an optician provides a valuable opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals by helping them improve their vision and overall eye health. I try to take the time to understand each patient's unique needs and concerns. I listen attentively and empathetically to their problems and provide personalized recommendations. By offering individualized care, you can make a significant impact on their satisfaction and overall well-being. I love to see someone light up when they put something on their face that they just love!Educating patients is very important. I like to act as a knowledgeable resource for patients by providing information and education , preventive measures, and proper eyewear care. I want to empower them to make informed decisions about their eye care needs. Most importantly I want to support community outreach with my license. I’d like to participate in community events and initiatives related to eye health. I’d love to provide access to basic eye health services to those who may not have easy access to eye care. I want to make everyone feel important no matter what their financial status may be. Hopefully by collaborating with other eye care professionals and establishing strong relationships with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and other eye care professionals in my community, I could get the help I need to do this. Making a positive impact as an optician goes beyond providing excellent technical skills. It involves genuine care, empathy, and a commitment to improving the vision and overall well-being of your patients. By focusing on personalized care, education, community engagement, and collaboration, you can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those you serve.
