I am interested in a teacher's degree because I love to educate. I used to be a stay-at-home mom and would homeschool my children, but then life happened, and I had to return to work. However, during homeschooling, I knew I loved educating my children, and I thought if I could educate them and enjoy it, I would feel the same for other children. When I returned to work, I was a paraprofessional and transitioned into a teacher's aide. I worked in this field for roughly three years, loving it. I have, however, moved on to another field to help my household more financially, but I can still teach others from a different perspective. I work as a Life Guide for a non-profit, assisting families in coming out of poverty and helping children stay within schools or mom/dads with homeschooling resources. I have two more years until I complete my studies in Special Education and a minor in ASL. My goal is to work with the K-6 grades. These are the most impressionable years. I'm a creative and outside-of-the-box thinker. I want to teach the children that learning can be fun and exciting. It's more than textbook and rigorous education. That learning can occur outside or at the public library and in our local community bakery. I would love to expand the thinking of the youth's minds and even make an inclusive classroom for parents to feel involved and welcomed. Sometimes, parents feel excluded or that their involvement isn't warranted. I want to change that narrative and have parents do show-and-tell days or suggest creative ways of learning, and we incorporate that into our core standards. Because I love to help and assist, being a teacher only makes sense to me. It is a way I can give back daily, impact the world, and leave a lasting positive impression. Teaching is a career in which I could never get bored or not enjoy my job. Children bring so much joy, and in return, I would like to impart joy into their lives by giving them a new way of learning, helping them to achieve their educational goals, and breaking those educational barriers. To instill in the youth that learning can be enjoyable and good for them. Also, instilling values of why it's important and how, later in life, they will use reading skills and math every day. Becoming a teacher is more than a career; it will be an enjoyment of my days to assist and help others learn and grow.

When it comes to educating students, we not only consider the educational part, but we also consider how they treat one another and how they communicate their differences and come to a resolution. Being within a school setting is to help children learn safe techniques and effective resolutions among one another with a teacher's assistance. And rewarding children for being safe. Also, expressing to them that every negative has a consequence. I aim to make a safe learning environment on the playground and within the school building. Every child deserves to have a safe and fun play space.

    Law Family Single Parent Scholarship
Being a single parent has made me realize I needed to return to school for higher wages and better career options. I currently work in my community with adults and I want to transition into public special education with a minor in American Sign Language. I am currently enrolled in my local community College KVCC in person part-time. And I also attended WGU online full-time. All the while working 40 hours a week. I am driven to reach my goals and provide the life my children need. And to walk in the career I desire. While going to school showing those who matter first (my children) that they too are capable of achieving their goals and dreams! I want to teach children that education, and knowledge is power; and when they have that no one can take that away from them! This is something I had to learn along the way. But imagine children knowing this earlier on in their lives, and the impact of this statement. Before realizing I wanted to go back to school I was a stay at home mom. I was married and it made sense for our household at the time. However, things didn't work out. Seven years later I was moving back home with my parents and trying to find a job and come. The Lord was most merciful as in three months I had a job and a fixer upper home to move into. As I was grateful for my job it was a call center it paid well, but I didn't enjoy it. I could not continue in a call center. Shortly after a year I lost my job. It was a rough first year as a single mom with no support. I started working in a middle school as a paraprofessional and loved helping the students. I chose this job because I needed the same work schedule as my children. I had no idea I would enjoy it so much. I enrolled that year at KVCC part time (2019) in Special Education. The pandemic came in and literally shut down all programs so I had completed one course. In the early 2021 I could take some classes, and in the meantime I was looking for another schooling option to help with the gap. I enrolled in Wester Governors University by 2022 with them only accepting 19 of my 37 credits. But this new class schedule was going to be convenient for my life. And it has been. I have returned back to KVCC for a certification in ASL, which I pay out of pocket in payments. And I am right on track at WGU. Keeping a clear path towards my goals have made this journey worth while.
