Bio

My life goals are to become a psychologist and help others who may have problems with their mental health, relationships, or other personal matters. I'm extremely passionate about helping others and being a leader for others who cannot stand for themselves. I am a great candidate for scholarships because I have worked hard for many years to help others by helping out my friends with their mental health and other personal problems.

Ever since I was a kid I never felt heard about my mental health; I was never taken seriously due to just being a child. Many of my peers have also felt this way, being taken down by the stigma of being too young to have mental challenges. Children not getting help because of their age has always been a huge problem, mostly caused by parents neglecting to see that their child is struggling. These same parents who do not attempt to help their children are always surprised when their child makes an attempt on their life; failing to realize that it could have been prevented with a single action. The take-down of "You are too young to have depression" will always leave a empty feeling in my chest and plague my mind. This does not have to be the case for others, though. I want to take down the stigma of a person being "too young" to have mental disorders such as anxiety or depression. Helping young people realize that they're never too young to have feelings or problems will be my impact on the world. Around 3.2% of children from 3-17 have diagnosed depression (CDC). This only accounts for those who have access to a diagnosis, the children who received help from their parents or guardians. In reality, we will sadly never know the true number of children that are struggling with mental battles everyday; some children do not open up to their parental figures due to the fear of rejection. I hope to have an impact on young people's lives, whether that be on a small scale or a large scale. I want to teach the future generation to not feel scared of being shut down if they open up about their mental health. I also hope to teach others my age or older to take their children seriously and always be there to just listen and help. Hopefully, with just a little help from others, my goals can become a reality. Thank you for reading.
