Hey there, my name is Jemimah Mayega. I am 17 years old and the daughter of East African Immigrants coming from the beautiful country of Uganda. Ever since I was a child, I have always been obsessed with animals, big and small. Because of my love and passion for animals, it only made sense that I explore a career dealing with animals. Because of this, I knew that becoming a veterinarian was the chosen career for me. Not because I get to be around animals all day but because I can easily connect to animals on a deeper animal and feel authentic compassion. I'm sad when a cat meows because it longs for touch and companionship. I'm happy when I see a dog's tail wagging, jumping up and down in greeting. I feel calm when I see a turtle that is content to swim around in the water. You don't go into the veterinary field for the money. You go into the field because you have the heart and the willingness to do whatever it takes for animals of all shapes and sizes. And that is something you can't fake. Besides being into animals, I love to read books. I love reading books that fall under the romance or mystery genre. I am also an anime and
K-drama lover. You can also catch me listening to K-pop and K-rnb. I am a very active member of my community. One of the ways I like to give back to my community is by volunteering. I volunteer at middle school and high school choir and band shows. As well as helping out the Literary Club. I love being able to share my dreams of becoming a veterinarian, my love for anime and K-dramas, K-pop and K-rnb, and giving back to my community.

As kids, when asked what we want to be when we grow up, most children will say they want to be singers, lawyers, presidents, or veterinarians. I was the kid to say a veterinarian. And, of course, as we get older, we tend to change our dream careers into something reasonable, but I never did. I only ever wanted to be a veterinarian.
I want to become a veterinarian because I have a deep passion for animals. I love spending time with them, researching their nature, and caring for them. I feel a sense of achievement when I am around animals and working with them in some capacity. Nothing is more rewarding than doing my part to help animals in need. Not only am I providing shelter, food, and medical care, but I am also giving animals the much-needed love and compassion that they deserve. All animals deserve happiness, and I am more than willing to bring joy into an animal's life.
Veterinary medicine is an ever-evolving field with new and advanced treatments created almost daily. Being up-to-date with these developments can make all the difference in saving an animal's life. Throughout my career as a veterinarian, I will have endless opportunities to expand my knowledge.
I have always had a strong desire to help out my community. Being a veterinarian allows me to educate pet owners, young and old. I love the idea of being able to lead pet owners in the right direction, knowing that I am still making an impact on an animal's life.
My desire to help animals goes beyond small animals such as cats and dogs. I intend to help farm animals, zoo animals, and animals found in wildlife sanctuaries. I want to travel worldwide using my resources and knowledge to save, protect, and heal animals.
One of the most important things to note is being a veterinarian will not be easy. It is a lot of work and can be stressful at times. Furthermore, it can take an emotional and physical toll on you. There is a potential for challenging clients who may not understand that you are trying to do everything you can for their animal. You may also work long hours, potentially leading to burnout. People who work in this field don't do it for money. They do it because they love animals wholeheartedly.
Yes, this job will be challenging, but if you genuinely want something, all the sacrifices are worth what you are shooting for.
