As a first-generation college student from a low-income Hispanic/Latino family, I have always understood the value of hard work and perseverance. Growing up in a challenging neighborhood, I witnessed firsthand the obstacles that can hinder opportunity. Despite these difficulties, I remained determined to pursue an education and career that would allow me to make a meaningful impact on the world around me.
I am currently majoring in civil engineering with a concentration in construction at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. My passion lies in structural design and construction, where I aim to merge creativity with technical knowledge to build structures that are both functional and sustainable. I am particularly inspired by the ability to shape communities through innovative design and resilient infrastructure.
Last summer, I had the privilege of completing my first official internship as a Project Engineer Intern with Truebeck Construction. During this experience, I worked alongside seasoned professionals, gaining hands-on knowledge in managing a project.
Looking ahead, I am excited to continue building my professional skills as a Campus Intern with JE Dunn Construction next summer.
