I am pursuing my degree in education to be a purpose in the minds of younger people. I want to teach, but not only that, I want to be a friend, I want to be a mentor, I want to be someone who these kids can turn to and talk to when they're having issues. My agricultural teachers in high schools became some of my best freinds because I could always turn to them and look to them for guidance and wisdom. Now, they put their foot down every now, but I knew that was just because they had a job to do, and being able to do that and be some of these kids' lights was amazing. I want to become the kind of teacher that my agricultural teachers were to me, especially in a program where not many people know what really happened. Not many people nowadays know how tight-knit the agricultural program is because of everything we do outside of the classroom with FFA or programs that we run. We could get that close connection with our teachers because they let us in and helped not only with programs and events, but we all learned to trust them. That's why I'm pursuing a degree in education, so I can be the type of teacher that my students can look to when they're having problems. I wanna be the teacher they trust, the teacher that helps, the teacher that provides. Cause being a teacher is more than just the subject you teach or the assignments you grade. It's about being a light for your students instead of having them skip or dread your class. You want to be why they get up in the morning to come, learn to come, see come, and trust that there will be a loving environment inside and outside your classroom that they can look forward to. Because all teachers were once students and we all know how rough it is to be a student with tests and finals and a rough home life in some cases so, you want your classroom to be a safe place for kids to not only do their work but also have some time to relax from the rough and troublesome life that they might have when they walk out of your door. For those reasons that is why I am pursuing a degree in agricultural education
