My goal for the future is to become a pediatrician, whether in a clinical setting or serving in the operating room as a pediatric surgeon. I have always been drawn to working with children, not only because of their resilience but also because of the level of care, patience, and compassion they require. Beyond treating illness, I aspire to care for the whole child--physically, emotionally, and spiritually. True healing goes beyond prescriptions and procedures, and I want to be a physician who recognizes the importance of addressing a child's overall well-being. I envision opening a Christ-centered pediatric clinic where faith and medicine work together, creating an environment in which prayer, compassion, and excellence in care are present in every appointment and diagnosis. In this space, families would feel a sense of comfort and peace, knowing that their child is being cared for with both medical expertise and genuine love. My goal is not only to treat conditions, but to build trust with families and support them through some of their most vulnerable moments. As a future pediatrician, I want families to feel seen, valued, and supported, especially those from underserved communities who may lack access to both quality healthcare and encouragement. Growing up, I have become increasingly aware of the disparities that exist in healthcare, and I am motivated to be part of the solution. By inviting Christ into my practice, I hope to offer a sense of hope and reassurance to children and their families, while still respecting and caring for individuals from all backgrounds. I want my work to reflect both clinical excellence and compassion, ensuring that every patient receives the dignity and attention they deserve. In addition to my career in medicine, I aim to use my voice beyond the clinic through digital platforms. I currently run a YouTube channel and plan to grow it into a space where I can share my faith, experiences, and encouragement. Through this platform, I hope to inspire other young people--especially those who may not see themselves represented in healthcare--to pursue their goals with confidence and purpose. Whether through medicine or media, my ultimate goal is to serve God by serving people, using my gifts to heal, inspire, and uplift others. The Honorable Shawn Long Memorial Scholarship will play a vital role in helping me achieve these goals by reducing the financial burden associated with pursuing higher education. As I prepare to follow a rigorous pre-med track, I know that my success will depend on my ability to fully commit to my studies, volunteer work, and hands-on clinical experiences. With this support, I will be able to focus more fully on these opportunities without the constant pressure of financial strain. Rather than being limited by external challenges, I will have the freedom to grow academically and professionally into a dedicated and well-prepared pediatrician of the future. This scholarship will not only support my education but also bring me one step closer to creating a healthcare space that reflects both excellence in medicine and the love of Christ.

My relationship with Jesus truly began when I stopped treating our relationship as transactional. Growing up, I often heard that if you wanted something, you could go to Jesus and He would give it to you. Faith was frequently framed around blessing, what God could provide rather than who Gospd is, However, I began to realize that faith becomes most difficult, and most meaningful, when we go to Jesus with requests and the answer is not what we hoped for. Coming from a family rooted in faith, Insaw how easy it is to focus on b,seeing’s rather than journey with Christ. Learning to be content even when blessings are delayed or denied was pivotal for me. Walking with Christ requires trust and that trust is not easy. Yet faith deepens when you can say, “Lord, I trust You, even if this does not happen.” In the story of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, Daniel’s friends reflect on this true when going into the fire after not worshiping Nebuchadnezzar’s gods. Their faith was not dependent on the outcome, and that lesson reshaped my own. Personally, my relationship with Jesus strengthened my faith by teaching me to stop overthinking and start trusting. As an overthinker, I often imagine the worst-case scenario. One day at school, I misplaced a credit card my father had given me and immediately began to panic, Instead of spiraling, I prayed and reminded myself to trust God, continually encouraging my spirit to rest in Him, Later that day, after a Science club meeting, my brother approached me and told me I had left the card at a car shop I was at the day prior. Though it was a small situation, it reminded me that even faith the size of a mustard seed matters. God’s faithfulness is not measured by the size of our request but by the sincerity of our trust. My faith also shapes my educational and career goals. I aspire to become a pediatrician, a calling that requires deep faith and humility. In medicine, doctors are often placed on a pedestal, but I never want my patients to see me as their savior. Instead, I want them to know that God works through me. I am not God, and I could never take His place. My goal is to honor Him through compassion, service, and integrity in every aspect of my education and future practice. As I continue my academic journey, I will implement my faith by trusting God even when things do not go according to my plans. When outcomes differ from my expectations, I remind myself that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” Hebrews 13:8. Nothing He does will ever diminish me;instead, He continually refines and strengthens me. Walking with Christ is not easy, but it is always worth it, because He is worthy.
