Hello, I'm Jailyn! I'm currently a senior in high school in South Carolina. I haven't committed to a college yet, but I'm between Winthrop University and North Carolina A&T State University. Regardless of where I go, I want to study psychology and possibly minor in english too. I was first introduced to Psychology in 10th grade when I took AP Psychology. I fell in love with the class and its content. At the end of the year, I got a 4 on the AP exam. This year, I'm competing in the SC HOSA state competition, where I'll be taking a Behavioral Health test, which covers psychological concepts like memory, development, mental health conditions, and neuroscience. As for English, I fell in love with reading at a very early age. Majority of my time is spent reading nonfiction and exploring different genres. This year, I'm taking AP English Literature and Composition, and I've been exposing myself to more classics. A few classics I've enjoyed include Pride and Prejudice, Frankenstein, and The Picture of Dorian Gray. Overall, english is my favorite subject in school. In the future, I'd like to use my knowledge of psychology to destigmatize mental health. I want to help people diagnose their mental health issues and find ways to alleviate the symptoms in non-medicinal ways. My work would be focused on teens, as I believe they are the most vulnerable to mental health struggles. I also would like to ultimately make psychological care more accessible. Happy minds can lead to happy lives, and I want to help people achieve their best lives possible.
