I believe that service is a commitment that improves the lives of others. I work full time for the Army National Guard in Transportation; I've dedicated my career to supporting soldiers and mission readiness while developing as a leader. I’m currently pursuing a Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire because I want to keep serving others in a different capacity by helping people regain their ability to communicate, swallow safely and live more independent lives after illness or injury. I'm passionate about leadership, lifelong learning and giving back to my community. Outside of my military service, I volunteer with organizations including the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon and Wings Special Needs Community, where I'm able to support events that benefit individuals with development disabilities and the Oklahoma City community. After my second deployment I decided I wanted to go back to school and pursue my dreams. Balancing a full time military career, Warrant Officer Candidate School, graduate school, and volunteer service has required discipline, resilience and perseverance. Every challenge reinforced my commitment to serve. My goal is to serve in the Guard as a Warrant Officer while I work on my education to achieve credentials in speech language pathology specializing in neurorehabilitation, traumatic brain injury, stroke and dysphagia to allow myself a seamless transition from a soldier to a civilian. I hope to use both leadership and healthcare to make a lasting difference and a big impact on the lives of others.
