I’m Jazmine G, a first-generation tradeswoman working toward my plumbing certification. Growing up in a small town, I watched my mother/grandmother struggle to find reliable plumbing help. This inspired me to take matters into my own hands and learn the trade. I’m currently in my first year of an apprenticeship and studying at a technical college. I’m dedicated to becoming a licensed plumber and giving back to my community by providing affordable, skilled labor where it’s most needed.
This scholarship will help me afford my tools, books, and certification fees, bringing me one step closer to a career I’m passionate about.

WinnerGrowing up in low-income housing with a single parent taught me the value of hard work, resourcefulness, and determination from an early age. Seeing how much my parent had to sacrifice to keep our home running made me appreciate skilled tradespeople. I’ve always known that I need to work hard to build a better life. I see plumbing as a path toward independence, financial stability, and a way to give back to my community. It inspired me to pursue a career where I can directly help others while building a secure future for myself. I like practical work, I enjoy fixing things, and I want a stable and well-paying job without college debt.
I chose the field of Plumbing because of the: 1.) High Demand & Job security. Plumbing is an essential service — homes, businesses, and public infrastructure all rely on plumbing systems. Plumbers are consistently in demand, especially as older workers retire and fewer young people enter the trades. 2.) Good pay. Plumbers typically earn competitive wages. Experienced or specialized plumbers can earn even more. Overtime, emergency, or weekend jobs often come with higher rates. 3.) Low Barrier to Entry. You don't need a four-year college degree. Most plumbers start as apprentices, earning money while they learn. 4.) You can specialize (e.g., gas fitting, pipefitting, steamfitting). With experience, you can become a master plumber, supervisor, contractor, or start your own business. Plumbing involves working in different environments — residential, commercial, construction, and repair. It’s ideal for those who enjoy problem-solving, physical work, and working with their hands. Plumbing skills are in demand across the country (and even internationally), making it a portable career.
Receiving this scholarship would not only lighten the financial burden on my family, it would also bring me one step closer to a career that I am passionate about — one that allows me to support myself, honor my upbringing, and serve others. While my upbringing presented challenges, it also instilled in me a strong work ethic and a deep respect for the trades. I’ve learned to be resourceful, dependable, and eager to take initiative — qualities that are essential in the plumbing profession. My goal is to use these traits to become a skilled plumber who can contribute meaningfully to my community.
I’m excited to begin this journey, and I know that with support, hard work, and dedication, I’ll become the kind of plumber my community can count on. Thank you for you time and consideration.
Redefining Victory Scholarship
Success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. It can be defined as achieving a desired outcome or goal, whether it's related to career, relationships, personal growth, or other aspects of life. Success often involves overcoming challenges, making progress toward one's aspirations, and finding fulfillment in the process. The specific definition of success can vary from person to person, as it depends on individual values, priorities, and ambitions. Getting a scholarship can significantly help me achieve success by alleviating financial burdens, allowing me to focus on my studies, providing access to opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach, and extracurricular activities, all of which are critical to gaining the knowledge and experience necessary to reach my career goals.
With the financial support from a scholarship, I can pursue my academic and career goals without the stress of tuition or living expenses. This can enhance my ability to perform well in school, access internships, and build a strong network for future opportunities. Ultimately, a scholarship can act as a stepping stone to my long-term success by empowering me to complete my education and pursue my ambitions more fully. Receiving this scholarship will also allow me to take advanced accounting courses, business law, which are essential in accomplishing my goals.
As someone who thrives on structure and precision, accounting is not just a career path for me- it is a calling that aligns with my passion for solving problems and making an impact. I've always been drawn to subjects that require logical thinking and problem-solving. Accounting, with its clear rules and structural approach, immediately appealed to me. I enjoy the process of breaking down complex problems into manageable parts, and accounting provides the perfect balance of structure and critical thinking, which aligns with my strengths. I have always been meticulous and detail-oriented, traits that are essential for accounting. The satisfaction of ensuring every number aligns perfectly is something that excites me. The precision required in balancing accounts and the challenge of uncovering discrepancies is something that I thrive on.
From a young age, I was fascinated by how businesses operate. Accounting is the backbone of every business, and I wanted to be part of that foundation. I am excited by the idea of helping businesses make informed decisions by analyzing their financial data and guiding them towards profitability and sustainability. Accounting appeals to me because it is rooted in trust and integrity. As an accountant, you are entrusted with sensitive financial information, and I am motivated by the responsibility to be accurate, transparent, and ethical. This sense of accountability aligns with my personal values, and it is something I take very seriously as I look to build my career.
The accounting field offers excellent prospects for career growth. Whether it's through becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), pursuing specialized certifications like forensic accounting, or eventually starting my own consulting firm, accounting provides numerous avenues for advancement. The field is dynamic and always evolving, and that is a challenge I am willing to embrace.
