Growing up in New Jersey—specifically in Newark—has played a significant role in shaping who I am, how I view the world, and what I aspire to in my future. Living here taught me resilience, strength, and how to push forward even when things get tough. Newark isn’t always easy, but it’s full of heart. It’s a city where people work hard, support one another, and strive for better. That energy became part of me. It’s what pushes me to keep striving for more.
From a young age, I knew I wanted to help others. Still, it wasn’t until I started learning more about health and science in school—especially through my Health Allied CTE program at Newark Tech—that I realized I wanted to become a pediatrician. I’ve always had a soft spot for children. Their innocence, honesty, and ability to smile through pain touch me deeply. And growing up in a city where many families don’t always have easy access to quality healthcare made me want to be part of the solution. I don’t just want to treat children—I want to be a doctor who listens, advocates, and makes them feel safe and seen.
My community inspired that dream. I’ve watched parents work multiple jobs just to provide basic care for their kids. I’ve seen students come to school sick because going to the doctor wasn’t an option. That’s not okay. Becoming a pediatrician means I can make real change, not just by giving medicine, but by showing compassion, building trust with families, and making healthcare more accessible, especially in underserved communities like the one I grew up in.
Relationships have also played a huge role in my journey. My family, my cheer team, my mentors, and my friends have taught me the value of loyalty, honesty, and support. My guidance counselor, Ms. Negron, always believed in me and reminded me that my dreams were possible, no matter where I came from. My cheer sisters reminded me to smile even when life felt heavy. And my leadership roles have taught me how to give back, speak up, and lead with love.
Newark gave me my grit, my heart, and my purpose. I plan to take everything this city gave me and use it to help children live healthier, happier lives. Becoming a pediatrician isn’t just a career goal—it’s a calling, and I’m ready to answer it.
Everything I’ve been through here—every cheer competition, every long night studying, every leadership role—prepared me to be who I am: focused, passionate, and ready to make a difference.
