WinnerI would describe myself as a lively friendly, and caring person who genuinely enjoys helping others. I like to laugh, make people feel comfortable with being themselves, and bring great energy whenever I go. At the same time, I take people's well being seriously and try to be a person that others can rely on. These qualities are a big part of why I want to build a career in healthcare, starting as a Nurse, eventually becoming a Nurse Practitioner.
I have always cared about people, not just about their health but also how they feel emotionally. I believe that feeling heard and understood can make a difference, especially when someone is sick or in pain. I check on others, ask how they are doing, and try to help in any way. Whether it's listening, pushing them, or making them smile. I just want people to feel supported around me.
My plan is to begin my career as a Nurse. Nursing calls me because nurses are often the first people patients interact with and the one who spend the most time with them. Nurses don't just give medication, they build trust, explain what's happening, and advocate for their patients, especially with me being a Black woman. As a nurse, I want to be the person who treats every patient with respect and kindness, no matter the situation. I want my patients to feel like they matter.
As I gain some experience, I want to continue my education and become a nurse practitioner. Becoming a nurse practitioner will help me gain more responsibility and have an huge impact on patients' lives. I want to be able to diagnose conditions, create plans that are fit for them, and educate patients about their health in a supportive way. I believe that education is important and when patients understand their health, they can make better choice for themselves.
Through my career in healthcare, I hope to make a positive impact by not only having medical knowledge but combining that compassion. A smile, a joke, or a calm explanation can ease someone's situation and make a stressful situation more manageable. I want to bring comfortability into spaces and remind people that they are not alone.
In the long run, my goal is to help improve lives. I may not be able to change the world all at once, but by caring for people with empathy and respect. I believe I can make the world a little bit better and kinder. That is the kind of impact I hope to make through my career in healthcare.
