In a study conducted by Kaspersky in 2023, they found that approximately 33.8 million mobile devices were hacked in some way. This statistic illustrates that computers and devices are extremely vulnerable to infiltration by external malicious forces, which fuels my passion to help people become aware of this issue and seek justice against cyber criminals. My passion lies in the field of computer science, particularly cybersecurity. I am drawn to this field because of its immense potential to improve the safety of digital systems and protect individuals and organizations from cyber threats. As our world becomes more connected through technology, cybersecurity is increasingly vital to ensure that our personal information, financial data, and even national security remain protected. A significant event that sparked my interest in cybersecurity occurred in 2020 when my personal information was stolen, putting my family and me at risk. After talking to someone on a chatting platform who seemed innocent, he took advantage of my kindness and managed to uncover my sensitive information, such as my general location, IP address, card number, and more. This experience emphasized how vulnerable people can be taken advantage of and taught me a lesson in digital responsibility while igniting my passion. By working in this field, I hope to protect individuals, businesses, and even government institutions from cyberattacks. The growing reliance on technology means that digital security is more crucial than ever, and I want to be part of the solution that ensures people's data and privacy are safeguarded. Cybersecurity also plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity of digital infrastructure. By developing and implementing secure systems, I aim to prevent cyber threats that can disrupt services and harm individuals and organizations. This is my way of contributing to a safer and more secure digital world. To pursue my passion for cybersecurity, I plan to begin my education at my local community college before transferring to a four-year university. This pathway will allow me to receive an affordable education, as my family is on a fixed income. At the community college, I will focus on courses related to computer science, including cybersecurity, to build a strong foundation in the field. After transferring to a university, I intend to earn my bachelor's degree and further specialize in cybersecurity to gain a deeper understanding of the field. I also plan to supplement my formal education with internships, personal projects, and certifications to continue expanding my skills. By doing so, I will be well-equipped to help organizations and individuals safeguard their data and systems against cyber threats. My passion for cybersecurity drives me to pursue a career in the field, where I can contribute to a safer and more secure digital world. Through my education and ongoing self-study, I am working to develop the skills necessary to protect against cyber threats. I am excited to continue my journey and look forward to applying my knowledge to make a positive impact in the tech world.
