High school wrestling has played a role in my life. It has helped me become an athlete and a better person. I learned a lot from wrestling like how to be disciplined and resilient. These lessons go beyond just winning or losing. They have helped me deal with challenges and think about my future.
One way wrestling helped me was by teaching me discipline. Wrestling is hard. It takes a lot of work every day. I had to get up for practice work out really hard and make sure I was at the right weight. There were days when I was tired or did not want to do it. I had to keep going. I learned how to manage my time and balance schoolwork with sports. I also learned how to work and stick with it. These habits have helped me in school. Will help me in the future.
Wrestling also made me more resilient. It is a sport because when you are on the mat you are alone. You have to rely on yourself. I lost some matches. It was hard to deal with.. I learned from each loss and I got better. I did not let losing get me down. Instead I thought about what I did wrong. I tried to do better next time. Wrestling taught me that it is okay to make mistakes and that I can learn from them. This has helped me deal with challenges in areas of my life.
Wrestling helped me build confidence too. When I practiced hard I felt good about myself when I competed. I learned to trust myself and stay calm when things got tough. This confidence has helped me in areas of my life. I feel more comfortable leading others and speaking up. I am not afraid to try things.
Wrestling also taught me about responsibility. Since it is a sport I was responsible for how I did. If I won it was because of me. If I lost it was because of me. This helped me become more mature and honest with myself. I learned that if I want to get better I have to take responsibility for my actions.
Overall high school wrestling has helped me become a person. It has taught me discipline, resilience, confidence and responsibility. I am ready to face challenges. Keep working towards my goals. The lessons I learned from wrestling will stay with me for a time. High school wrestling has made an impact on my life and I will always be grateful, for that.

The moment I stepped off the mat after one of the toughest matches of my life, I wasn’t just thinking about winning or losing. I was thinking about what my body had endured and how I could come back stronger. Wrestling has taught me discipline, resilience, and mental toughness. It has also shown me the importance of understanding the human body. That experience inspired me to pursue higher education in physical therapy while continuing my wrestling career.
Attending college will give me the chance to grow as an athlete and as a future professional. Wrestling at the collegiate level will push me to new limits. It will force me to stay focused, manage my time, and commit to my goals. At the same time, studying physical therapy will let me turn my passion for sports into a meaningful career. I want to understand how the body works, how injuries occur, and most importantly, how to help people recover and return stronger than before.
Higher education is essential for me to achieve this. It provides the academic knowledge and hands-on experience needed in physical therapy. Through classes, clinical work, and real-world training, I will gain the skills to make a difference in people’s lives. Being a student-athlete will also give me a unique perspective. I won’t just learn from textbooks, but also from my own experiences with training, recovery, and competition.
My goal is to create a positive impact by helping athletes and individuals overcome injuries and regain confidence. I want to support those who need to heal physically and also motivate them mentally, just like coaches and trainers have done for me. Whether it’s helping a wrestler get back on the mat or assisting someone to move comfortably again, I want to be part of their journey to recovery.
Additionally, I plan to give back to my community by mentoring younger athletes. Wrestling has shaped who I am, and I want to help others experience the same growth. By sharing what I’ve learned—both on the mat and in the classroom—I hope to inspire others to chase their goals and overcome challenges.
Higher education is more than just a step toward a career for me. It’s a pathway to making a lasting impact. By combining my passion for wrestling with my goal of becoming a physical therapist, I am preparing myself to help others become stronger, healthier, and more confident in their abilities.
