I am a dedicated and extremely hardworking student and member of society! I attend school from 8-3 and then go to work so that I can save money for college. I am planning to attend the University of South Carolina, Columbia. There I am planning to major in psychology and minor in criminology. I am extremely interested in the psychological process of helping to not only prosecute the criminal but also to help understand how to better rehabilitate those within the system to correct and prevent crime within my community. My long-term goal is to work my way into the FBI, serving as part of the behavioral science unit. I have such a passion for this, as I desire to help fix the criminal justice system. I recognize the benefits of having a more rehabilitating system, as opposed to a punishment system, as I believe psychological rehabilitation of criminals helps to better prevent criminals from taking part in crime after being released. I spend a lot of my free time volunteering with my local homeless shelter, where I am blessed to be able to work closely with those within my community. Often times I hear stories of those who have been in and out of the system, most people explaining that they returned to crime after being released because they felt as if they had no other option like they had to participate in crime in order to survive. I love having the opportunity to speak and work with these individuals as it grows my passion to help them and those with similar stories.

The STEM major I am pursuing is psychology. I chose this major because I have a deep love for better understanding human behavior, as well as how to help those around me in everyday life, as well as in their personal, emotional life. Growing up, my papa and I always watched true crime documentaries together, it was one of our favorite things to do. I recently lost him very tragically and before he passed I promised him I would work as hard as I had to in order to become a forensic psychologist like he always wanted to see me do. I am excited to continue putting in the work to major in psychology and minor in criminology in order to fulfill both my own and my dear papa's dream of seeing me become a successful forensic psychologist.
