Community service is not just a phrase; it is a chance to devote one's time to helping others and improving society, making it a better place for everyone to live. Throughout my academic career, I have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand how sharing what I've learned with others has a direct, beneficial impact on their lives. Music, education, and my Christian religion have always been at the forefront of my life, educating and inspiring me to embrace community service.
Throughout my academic career, I have expanded my musical knowledge and shared what I have gained by playing throughout the metropolitan Detroit region. I have performed with a variety of bands at Senior Citizen Homes for their holiday celebrations, awards banquets, and summer picnics. School has taught me how to plan, put up rehearsals, and coordinate music to ensure a successful event. Senior Citizens are always grateful and genuinely appreciate the experience. I have helped put up activities, sang and dance with kids, and we all enjoy ourselves immensely. I am also the leader of the Jazz Combo at my school. Not only have we performed at gatherings for older citizens, but also at restaurants, churches, Christmas and retirement parties, and numerous fundraising events. In addition, I am a participant in the Detroit Symphony's Civic Jazz Orchestra, a youth initiative. Through this venue, I've gained new knowledge and skills from mentors, professors, and students from many sectors of our community, while also supporting the Detroit region through this organization. In each of these occasions, I would not have succeeded without my education allowed me to volunteer my time.
Nevertheless, as much as I adore music, it is not the only center of my existence. I've always desired a profession in the medical industry. Academically, I have been preparing myself for the future with diligence. By enrolling in honors and AP courses, I am now able to participate in community service related to respect teaching. I have coached younger kids and assisted them in improving their own academic performance. As I progress in life, I aspire to acquire medical expertise and eventually become a physician. As I educate myself in this new sector, I aim to once again give back by assisting my community and maybe other communities around the world.
I am certain that community service will always be a component of my life's mission, whether I am pursuing a career in music, academia, or medicine. I have much to learn, but as my education increases, so will my capacity to impart that knowledge. I will always give my time to the community, since sometimes people simply need a helping hand and that is what life is all about.
