FinalistBio
Hey! My name is Jaxson. I’m an aspiring paramedic working toward getting my EMT certification so I can serve my community in times of urgent need. I didn’t always plan to go into the medical field, but I was deeply inspired by my grandmother, a nurse who always went out of her way to help others. Her example showed me the power of compassion and commitment.
I currently volunteer in event production within the LGBT+ community, where I’ve learned how to work under pressure, stay organized, and create safe spaces. These experiences have helped shape my passion for helping people when it matters most.
This scholarship would allow me to earn my certification and take care of my community when it needs me the most. Thank you for your support.

Fire and EMS Academy Scholarship
This scholarship would help me start my journey to achieve my goal of becoming a certified paramedic — a dream I’ve grown into over time and one that is now at the center of everything I want to do. I haven’t yet had the opportunity to attend school, but I’m ready and determined to take that step. Financial support like this would remove a major barrier, giving me access to the training I need to start making a real difference.
For a long time, I didn’t picture myself entering the medical field. In fact, I actively tried to avoid it. But over the years, I found myself repeatedly drawn to the idea of helping others — not in a vague, feel-good way, but in moments when people truly need help the most. My grandmother, a nurse, was a huge influence on this shift. She never stopped going out of her way to care for others, whether in a hospital setting or in everyday life. Her dedication made me realize that being in the service of others is one of the most meaningful things a person can do. That realization is what ultimately led me to pursue a future in EMS.
As a paramedic, I want to be the person who brings calm to chaos. I want to respond quickly, think clearly, and act compassionately. I know this career will be challenging, both physically and emotionally, but I believe I’m meant for it. I’ve always felt grounded in high-pressure situations and find purpose in being useful and reliable for others — especially when things get hard.
Outside of academics, I volunteer in event production within the LGBT+ community. That work has helped me build practical skills — like managing logistics, working under pressure, and thinking quickly — while also strengthening my understanding of what it means to serve and support a community. Through this, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for creating safe, inclusive spaces and meeting people where they are. I believe this perspective will serve me well in EMS, where empathy and communication are just as important as technical knowledge.
Receiving this scholarship would not just help me afford training and certification — it would launch my path forward. It would allow me to fully commit to the calling I’ve discovered, step into a role where I can make a real impact, and ultimately take care of my community when it needs me most.
Thank you for the opportunity to share my goals and my story. Your support would mean the world to me and would help turn a deeply personal mission into a professional reality.
