My name is Jaxson Davidson. I've lived in Northern Utah my entire life, and essentially fight for any time that I can to work on a car, go on drives, and stare at others master peices.
As a kid, I never considered cars other than a means of getting from point A to point B. A car was just a way to get to friends' houses that were too far away to walk to. A couple of years later, when I was about 11, my dad took me under our van for the first time and taught me how to do my first oil change.
Since then I have done hours upon hours of mechanical work. I learned the basic anatomy of cars and repaired my family car twice after my sisters totaled it twice, and I consistently do car services for neighbors and friends.
Everything I have learned about cars is all from YouTube, my dad, and my grandpa's knowledge.
One of my favorite things to do on weekends is go to the "cars and coffee" car shows around Utah County, and see just how much effort and love the guys put into their cars.
My end goal in life is actually to own and work in a performance garage, fixing and modding out cars for myself and others. I love the feeling of being the hood of a car and getting my hands on a torque or socket wrench. My favorite project that I have right now is restoring my grandpa's 1953 Citroen that his mom drove when he was a kid.
The next thing on my bucket list is to get my motorcycle license and get a 600 cc sport bike. Being a part of the biker community is a huge deal to me and will need to be a part of who I am in the future.
I think that I would be a good candidate for this scholarship because of my love for cars and devotion to the field, whether that is stopping on the side of the road to change someone's tire or walking down the lines of cars at shows, I love every interaction that I have with these machines.
