LeBron James Fan Scholarship
LeBron James is the greatest basketball player of all time, and as his biggest fan, I’m always in awe of his career. Watching him play for over two decades has shown me that greatness isn’t just about talent—it’s about consistency, adaptability, and leadership. LeBron embodies all of these qualities, and that’s why I believe he’s the GOAT.
What stands out about LeBron is his incredible longevity. In a sport where athletes often decline in their 30s, LeBron continues to play at an elite level in his 20th season. His ability to maintain such a high standard of performance, year after year, is something no other player has been able to match. LeBron’s commitment to his body, his diet, and his training regimen is unparalleled. He’s not just playing in his 30s—he’s playing better than many of the league’s best, proving that age isn’t an obstacle when you take care of yourself.
Beyond his longevity, LeBron’s consistency is key. He’s been a top player in the league for two decades, and there’s rarely been a season where he hasn’t been among the very best. Whether he’s scoring, assisting, rebounding, or defending, LeBron excels in every facet of the game. His all-around game is a big reason why I consider him the GOAT. He’s not just a scorer—he’s an elite passer, a strong rebounder, and a shutdown defender. Few players have had such a broad impact on both sides of the ball.
LeBron’s basketball IQ is another factor that sets him apart. His understanding of the game is next-level. He sees things before they happen and can make adjustments on the fly. His court vision is unmatched, and he’s always aware of his teammates and opponents. Whether he’s making a game-winning pass or hitting a clutch shot, LeBron’s decision-making is what has separated him from other greats. He’s the ultimate leader, consistently elevating his teammates and putting them in positions to succeed. His ability to bring out the best in others makes him more than just a player; he’s the engine that drives his teams to greatness.
But LeBron’s impact isn’t confined to basketball. He’s used his platform to speak on social issues, advocate for change, and give back to his community. His work through the LeBron James Family Foundation, particularly the I PROMISE School, demonstrates his commitment to making a difference off the court. LeBron’s activism and philanthropy have inspired countless people, showing that greatness goes beyond statistics and titles.
Finally, LeBron’s accolades speak for themselves. Four NBA championships, four MVP awards, and countless All-Star appearances are just the tip of the iceberg. But what truly solidifies his GOAT status is how he’s done it. He’s thrived on different teams, with different coaches, and with different teammates. His ability to lead teams to the championship, often carrying them on his back, is a testament to his greatness.
LeBron James is the greatest because he combines longevity, consistency, basketball IQ, leadership, and impact on and off the court. He’s set a new standard for what it means to be great in the sport of basketball, and that’s why I believe he’s the GOAT.
Eden Alaine Memorial Scholarship
When I was younger, I always asked my mom for a younger brother or sister and the answer was always no. In early 2016, when I was 9, my mom found out she was going to have a baby. I was so excited that I was finally going to get a young brother or sister. I was hoping for a boy. My mom and now stepdad were excited and knew how excited I was, so they told me that I could go to the doctor's appointment where they did the ultrasound to find out the gender. I told my class, and my teacher told me I could bring in the pictures to show the rest of the class.
The day of the ultrasound we were all so excited to find out if it was a boy or a girl. During the ultrasound, everyone was smiling and happy, and then it got serious and quiet. I didn't know what was going on, but I was told it was going to be a girl, and she was sick. I didn't understand what it meant at the time, but she had Trisomy 18. My mom had to go to Omaha for more testing and they found out that the baby wasn't going to live.
When I took the pictures to class to show my friends the baby, all I remember was standing up in front of the class and I started crying. My teacher took me out into the hall and asked what was going on. I told her that my sister was sick and she wasn't going to live.
The day my baby sister, Tiffany Rose, was born, she ended up living for a few hours. My grandma took me to the hospital to see her. I got to hold her and take pictures with her. I didn't know why her eyes were different and why her head was shaped funny. I later learned that she was probably blind, and her brain had a lot of fluid on it.
I stayed with my grandparents while my mom was still in the hospital. We had a private graveside service for Tiffany. I had to start school the next week, and I don't remember anyone treating me differently about my sister dying, but I do remember when we had our talent show, my mom told me I should sing The Eye of the Storm by Ryan Stevenson because I knew it word for word. I told her I couldn't sing that song because it made me cry since it reminded me of everything when Tiffany was born.
The next year my mom had another baby, Aliyah. I think we were all worried something was going to be wrong with her as well, but luckily she is just a normal, sassy, little sister. I feel like I am super close to Aliyah and protective of her because I was worried about losing her too. I love being around little kids, especially my sister and my cousins. It breaks my heart when Aliyah cries when we talk about me going away for college. Even thought we fight and pick on each other all the time, I am very protective of her and and don't like seeing her sad.
Losing my sister at a young age has shaped my life by making me appreciate all the people I still have in it, and to build strong relationships with them. It has made me a compassionate and caring person. I like to help others to achieve their goals and to cheer them on when they accomplish any achievement.
