AROC AI/ML Scholarship
As a young black man attempting to make his way into the tech and computer science industry, I noticed the rise of artificial intelligence. It came quickly and took the world by storm immediately. Everyone was using artificial intelligence. Whether it be artistically, professionally or just to see how far artificial intelligence can go. My introduction to artificial intelligence was like anybody else's. At the end of the pandemic, people started to use DALL.E to generate anything possible with AI. I used this platform a bit for fun but I didn't know how far artificial intelligence could assist me in the bigger tech world.
My biggest technological interest is cybersecurity. I find the process of keeping firms safe from outside threats and attacks exciting and amazing. Using code and different tools to ensure, maintain and improve the security of a firm is something that I wanted to pursue. When I discovered that artificial intelligence can be used in cybersecurity, I was surprised at first, but it made perfect sense. I got to interact with Sumo Logic, a SIEM tool that uses artificial intelligence and machine learning. Artificial intelligence has made the process of using a SIEM tool much easier. Their AI-powered log analytics makes troubleshooting quicker with Copilot, which allows you to make queries in English instead of writing out log queries. The alert system is also made convenient with AI. With anomaly detection and automated playbooks, the job is easier and more efficient. This opened my eyes to how far artificial intelligence can go to make cybersecurity more simple and even invite more people to try it. Features like Copilot simplify the field and make it easier to navigate and eradicate threats. It makes me look forward to the future of technology and what AI can do to simplify more fields in the tech industry
In the future, I think artificial intelligence will be pushed to unimaginable boundaries. Tasks will be easier to complete and ideas will be easier to create. Artificial Intelligence can possibly create plans for new electricity grids, make databases easy to maintain, change the landscape of business or even change aerospace engineering and technology. Artificial intelligence paired with the human brain can change the professional world as we know it. Whether creatively, professionally or innovatively, artificial intelligence and machine learning will be a helpful asset to everyone in the future. It's just a matter of how you use it and what boundaries you push with it.
