As a future nurse, I want to help change that by making mental health support a normal and accessible part of healthcare. My contribution will begin with the way I care for patients. Through my STNA training and clinical experiences, I have learned that compassionate care starts with listening. As I continue my education and eventually become a nurse practitioner, I want to create an environment where patients feel comfortable discussing not only their physical health, but also their emotional and mental well-being. I believe that asking, “How are you really doing?” can be an important first step toward getting someone the support they need. I also want to use my future role as a nurse educator to teach others how to recognize mental health concerns, reduce stigma, and connect people with affordable community resources. My experiences mentoring youth at Enfinity Harvest have shown me how powerful education and encouragement can be. I cannot eliminate every barrier to mental health care alone, but I can help make healthcare more compassionate, informed, and inclusive. Although those experiences were difficult, they taught me valuable lessons that shaped who I am today. I learned that it is okay to start over, that growth often comes from discomfort, and that challenges can become opportunities if you are willing to keep moving forward. Rather than allowing setbacks to define me, I focused on my goals and committed myself to becoming the best version of myself. One of the most influential experiences during high school was attending the Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC). From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and supported by a community that encouraged students to pursue their passions and develop their potential.
