Before I was born, I had a stroke in utero. This caused one-third damage to the left side of the brain. Even with damage to the left side of my brain, this does not affect my learning abilities. The damage did cause weakness in my right leg and no use in my right arm. I was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and seizures. Cerebral Palsy is a group of permanent movement problems that appear in early childhood. Signs and symptoms are different among people. Often symptoms include poor balance, stiff muscles, and weak muscles. I take medicine twice daily so I don't have seizures. Additionally, each year, doctors complete tests on my brain. Once I was given an at-home test that forced me to be stuck in my room for three days. For me to leave my room my parents had to remove the machine. They called the machine a take-home EEG. Therapy is normal for me also. I attended speech therapy weekly. I go to normal classes in school even though I have a disability. So, I plan to go to college to further my education even with my disability. I am attending Valdosta State University in the fall of 2023 to major in computer science. I plan on going for four years and getting my bachelor’s degree. I picked to major in computer science because I was always interested in computers. I was in a robotics club in middle school. While in robotics, I learned how to code and build a robot. I also took all programming classes in high school. When in high school; I used many different programming software. I have used Sublime Text, Github, and Scratch just to name a few. I can use different computer operating systems. I also know how to use a spreadsheet. After college, I plan to be an information technology guy (IT guy). I want to be an IT guy because I am a great problem solver and a critical thinker. I can provide technical support, advice, and assistance to an organization or customers. Also, I can help resolve hardware, software and other technical problems. I have helped many people with computer issues. Even if it was a big or a little issue I helped them with it. If there is a problem that I am addressed with; I will find the issue and fix the problem. I will find the facts and analyze problems before making my judgments. I am also a peaceful assistant, I will be calm and help out someone in need; while calming them down. These skills will assist me to further my future career goals.
