My name is Jasmyne White , and I am currently obtaining my Bachelor’s Degree at Berklee College of Music for Songwriting and Music Production for Film, Television and Games.
I began writing and recording music at the age of 12 years old. I began utilizing my writing ability to come up with unique melodies on my digital audio workstation, recording my vocals by mixing and mastering musical sounds. From there, I became an intermediate expert in my songwriting skills at the age of 14 years old. Yes 14 !
My songwriting skills led me to traveling around NYC and recording with local artists as well as creating my own clothing line ! I sold hand painted custom clothing to my friends and built clientele.
My love for music & art has grown exponentially. Connecting with a broad range of musicians and experts.
Entering in as a freshmen in high school, I was accepted into a senior chorus. Tryouts were very nerve racking but, with my prior knowledge of score reading and broad vocal range , I had the pleasure of being accepted in !
I performed musicals such as, The Beatles Greatest Hits, Bui Doi, Disney's Classics, Les Miserables, Hallelujah, All That Jazz, Gloria In Excelsis, and many more. Also studying the Philharmonic Classicals in my journey.
From there I continued my dream of becoming a professional recording artist. Incorporating my style and utilizing my entrepreneurial skills as a recording artist.
I love creating music that brings a positive message to the world, this is my dream.
For The Love Of Music & Art.

While in Middle School, I loved writing poetry. Inspired truly by poetic artists such as Maya Angelou and more, I had indulged in writing everyday. I turned my poetry into music, and began recording at local studios. I knew that being a singer-songwriter was what I wanted to do.
After getting accepted in the Highschool Senior Chorus as a freshman, I landed my first solo in front of a large audience. I wasn’t nervous, I was more excited. As I stood in the center of the chorus , my chorus teacher conducted me in. I sung, “ Bui Doi “ from the musical, “ Miss Saigon. “ I knew from then, this is what I wanted to do.
Perhaps I knew nothing about The War in Vietnam. For me , it was a universal language of sound. Coming together in harmony and enjoying a performance. Whether it be yesterday, today or tomorrow, I think that it is definitely what Henry Wadworth Longfellow meant when he wrote,
“ Music is universal language of mankind. “
I envision my career to make a positive impact by teaching others, sharing my talent with others and being apart of a creative community. I love teaching and expressing talent through performances and being able to collaborate with my community.
As I am currently studying songwriting and music production for film, television and games. I am learning programming through music production courses. Leaning how to communicate to music professionals, sight reading, ear training, vocal performance, music business, harmonizing through chords and progressions and most importantly, collaborating.
Finishing my Bachelor’s Degree is important to my career. Not only through music, but through the idea of completing my life goal and sharing that energy with my peers.
I remember finishing up the solo on stage with my peers and practing, we all had to work together. The altos had their part of the song. While the sopranos sang the high notes. We all had to speak through music to sing the right pitch. Hit the right notes and pay attention to the conductor to ensure we were on top of our harmonization while we sang. Tenors and Bass had to ensure their stability as well. As we stand in unisen to sing Miss Saigon , I remember I had to ensure I remembered, every single rhythm and note from everyone in the choir to complete my solo and put on an awesome performance. I loved each minute. I will never forget that moment. I knew singing would be the career for me.

As a single parent, I have a unique opportunity to paint a positive example for my child through self-improvement and determination. Here are some ways in which I can demonstrate these qualities to my child
1. Set clear goals: Clearly define my personal and professional goals and share them with your children. By setting goals and working towards them, I can show her the importance of ambition, perseverance, and dedication.
2. Prioritize education: Emphasize the value of education and lifelong learning to my child. By pursuing further education or skill development myself, I demonstrate the importance of continuous self-improvement and growth.
3. Model resilience: Showing my child that setbacks and challenges are a natural part of life. By demonstrating resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity, I can teach my child the importance of overcoming obstacles and bouncing back from setbacks.
4. Practice self-care: Prioritize my own well-being and self-care to show my child the importance of taking care of oneself. By practicing self-care, I demonstrate the value of mental, emotional, and physical health.
5. Seek support and resources: Not being afraid to seek support from friends, family, or community resources when needed. By demonstrating a willingness to ask for help and utilize available resources, I can show my child the importance of seeking assistance when facing challenges.
6. Celebrate achievements: Celebrating my own achievements and milestones, no matter how big or small. By acknowledging and celebrating my successes, I can demonstrate the importance of recognizing and appreciating my hard work and accomplishments.
By embodying these qualities and behaviors, I can serve as a positive role model for my child and inspire them to pursue their own goals, strive for self-improvement, and approach challenges with determination and resilience. My actions and attitudes can have a lasting impact on my child’s development and mindset, shaping her into a confident, motivated individual who is capable of achieving her dreams.
Teaching music to my child can be a powerful form of self-improvement that benefits both by enhancing musical skills. As I guide my child through music lessons and practice sessions, I can deepen my understanding of music theory, technique, and performance with improved communication and teaching abilities and Increased creativity and inspiration.
Collaborating on musical projects, exploring new genres, and experimenting with different instruments can stimulate our creativity and expand our musical horizons.
Overall, teaching music to my child can be a enriching and rewarding experience that promotes personal growth, enhances my skills and abilities, and strengthens my relationship with my child. I can embrace the opportunity to share my passion for music, inspire my child's love for music, and continue my own journey of self-improvement through music education.

Children’s Place was a retail store I began working at so that I can pay for recording sessions and music equipment to buy a computer, to download the tools I needed to begin my career as a musician and an artist .
Before that , I had painted on clothes for my fellow classmates , receiving orders just in 7th grade. I had printed out buisness cards and knew that being an all around artist would be my career.
I had invested in my trademark, website, clothes, artwork festivals , and gained a lot of clientele !
So how was I going to put this all together, and become consitant at making this my on going career ? That is what my brain battled with. As seasons change and the demand for certain styles fluctuates,
My financial situation was not situated at all, I had just enough money to purchase more paint and do trial recordings and tour as a musician , but as time passed, I still needed to endure my education.
By the time I got to college I owed more than I made !
But my plan still evolved , attending The Fashion Institute of Technology to advance my skills and learn about the fashion industry to market my clothing line I obtained my associates degree, meeting so many great people along the way and built relationship ! Years later here I am enrolled at Berklee College of Music for my Bachelor’s degree advancing my skills in producing music as a professional !
As an all around artist , my clothing line and musician ship has evolved greatly.
Let me tell you, if that is not passion , I don’t know what is ! Patience is the key . It has taken me over 10 years to complete my education, due to my financial situation as an artist, but my passion for making music is greater than time.
I cannot wait to have my own shop and travel my arts around world as an artist and continue to build clientele.
Which means for me , I will invest finishing my Bachelor’s Degree education , and come up with a plan to have a consistent income for my career. I dream of opening a shop for my clothing line and having a community center where other artists can engage and explore.
I have begun the process by creating a LLC ,
Completing trademark paperwork and gathering clientele lists for consistent transparency for my work and most importantly studying and learning.

Remember “ The Jetson’s, “ the intro of this cartoon had the mother and father in a flying aircraft , released July 6th 1990. 23 + years later we are not there just yet but it looks as though Millennials have been working it , and Gen Z is here to help . Accouring to The Federal Aviation Administration , they have cleared the world's first flying car for a test drive and test fly and the second one could be developed by a Florida startup. We have drones , working for Amazon to begin dropping packages off beginning in the state of Texas according to Amazon.com.Next Generation electric cars , robots.
I am definitely celebrating the youth of today ! They are beyond inspiring to the creative community , adapting their creative endeavors and living the dream of The Jetsons.
Gen Z and Millennials also have a great impact through social media influencing. Television has become the old black and white TV’s . We are alll transitioning into creative content and a creative community, teaching online, utilizing as many social media platforms to showcase skills, teach and learn from.l as well as entertain our everyday lives . This offers a brighter look on the future and easy communication throughout the world. It’s almost as traveling to a different country through a phone.
We all get to enjoy and communicate with others through our phone , social media channels and more.
I often wonder, will we be going to school in the next 5 years or will we be online learning?
Will content creator’s replace the outlook
on the educational system . There are so many collective works from content creators of this generation.
My thoughts on Ode To Millennials-Gen Z are that it is an inspiring time. They have paved the way greatly for society’s creative life that the boundaries in what is being created, how it is being created and who is creating it , is limitless !

I remember attending Nathaniel Hawthorne Middle School. Pursing my visual arts passion and representing myself as a buisness to my peers , painting on clothes . I created buisness cards , and received many orders for custom hand painted attire . I received at least 3 orders a day ! By Highschool I was receiving custom orders from long term clientele . To this day that would make me over 15 years in Business.
I built my website and pursued my passion further for the love of music and art. Creating even more visuals throughout the years and artistic pieces, as well as a musical artist.
I knew then that my journey towards my buisness was gravitating towards greatness. By studying my passion and building clientele while learning with professionals in my field of arts . It made me want to create more and get in tune with the community.
I was apart of making the community a better place . Friends and Family members would call me and talk to me just about buisness goals, financial discussions, artistic trends , long term life goals .
I love when a community comes together and creates festivals and markets. Allowing creative entrepreneurs to contribute to the community by inspiring others to build on their artistic ability and support each other towards their endeavors.
Making the community a collaborative group for long term aspirations has led me to an inspirational path to continue to pursue my love for Music and Art .

Writing music, is what I love doing, recording my vocals , mixing and mastering them to create hit songs. I have been writing music since about the age of 12 year old. I wrote love songs, party songs, work related music. Which has not just impacted me greatly , but also the people around me.
At Benjamin N. Cardozo HS , I created an became the founder of the first official Urban Chorus Club. I conducted around 15 students to sing, The Star Spangled Banner, for the High School’s very first homecoming. We practiced every week, meeting in the hallway , or in the cafeteria to indulge in harmonic melodies.
As the founder, conducting tryouts, becoming the administrator, and lastly conducting the music people in front of a large audience, allowed me to embrace my entrepreneurial skills to build a team and organize a professional piece filled with talented and passionate musicians.
This would impact my career greatly, and go on my professional resume , for the rest of my life.
I was escalated with emotions as I reached out to tenors, altos and sopranos through out the school, creating flyers and organizing a professional practice routine, for my peers to practice and build their vocal skills.
For many students this performance would be their first performance they ever did. We walked on the gymnasium floor . Gathered in a perfect oval style triangle , and began the song. My arms were raised in a conductive manner , arms going up to raise the sopranos notes , arms going down for emphasis on the altos key.
My first professional experience as a conductor at the age of 16 years old .
The a cappella piece was extraordinarily great, the crowd of students of about 200 or more cheered , clapped their hands , and we all took a bow and out the gymnasium in perfect walking stance.
We all were so proud of our self’s. We were the first Urban Chorus Club. It was a great experience and it is still listed on my resume. I am able to professional utilize those skills forever for future endeavors as a entrepreneur in music.

Music connects the world , it heals and gravitates our minds. It allows the world to communicate and connect positively through various genres.
“ When I make music , I always pick a feeling first. I say to myself , what would the audience relate to ? “
For me , that is my impact on the world. Relating to, through my music . Making great music that is relatable to everyone .
Whether you are happy, sad, feeling strong, or feeling angry ... my goal is to create a music publishing company , that distributes a variety of music genres, that depict a certain feeling. A catalog of music with expandable lyrics.
Serene lyrics that incorporate any anticipated regular day activities such topics as , work, love. Music relating to heal depression to music that you play at a party to release your happiness and joyous feelings, as well as music for children.
Incorporating playful healing sounds and instruments. Sounds that are pleasing to our ears although music is not just drums , piano , guitars, or violins. Music is in fact everything around us. Our natural bodies are human instruments . And each step we take , creates a rhythmic energy and mood that is displayed through body language and human communication.
When we are sad , happy or angry, it is very common that we do listen to music that best suits how we feel .
I love making music for that purpose.
When I pick up my pen and began recording vocals or writing lyrics. It is all about relating to others . Connecting with others that feel the same to help with those feelings. Impacting not only me, but the world through a musical connection.

Being a parent is awesome, I am a mother to my 10, soon-to-be 11-year-old daughter Symphony. It has been a journey for me, when she was born, I worked full time, and learned how to balance my financial life, with my education, continuing my dreams to become a professional singer.
I was able to finish school in 2017 at The Fashion Institute of Technology. From there, I knew I had to keep going on my pursuit and goal, and so ...I worked some more to balance my finances and my profession. With a few gigs here and there, I was able to manage as a single mom, taking my daughter to the studio with me and balancing it all but... I was missing something, and that was my bachelor's degree.
It was important for me to finish my education in its entirety, not only for myself but now for my child. When she gets older, I want to be able for her to see all that I have accomplished. All that I have pushed through, still being able to obtain my Bachelor's Degree in the field that I love.
Me being a parent has broadened my journey tremendously to higher education, and I will use my higher education to teach my daughter how she can push through and make it to the finish line. I want to also support her, by showing her that dreams can come true.

“ Music Dreams “
-Jasmyne
The sounds of jazz music through my piano and MPK mini keyboard is the rhythm of my heart, the beat of my dreams. I close my eyes and dream of a stage filled with instruments, embracing words through song. Flowing hymns and melodies , harmonic riffs, through the microphone , humming the sounds of my memories, filled with the Harlem Renaissance sounds, Sam Cooke, Notorious BIG, and all those that have inspired me to sing away and record soul through song. I dream of music is all that I know. Through mental strain of today’s pain, I can clean an entire galaxy filled of Dreams deferred. My dedication is only for the love of music. My inspiration is only for the love of music. My dreams is music , it is all that I know, all that I will be, and all that I need . My dreams consists of stage filled all sorts of music , like Jimi Hendrix, and the Blue Notes, classic sounds of Michael Jackson and Prince, Aretha’s long felt riffs… my dreams consist of rock and roll , electronic pop , r & b , hip hop , rap, blues, guitars, pianos, I want to embrace all the keys. It looks like more than sounds, more than love, more than anything you can imagine, more than classic, more than soul, more than rhythm. My dreams stretches beyond synonyms, antonyms, beyond the beats of of raw drums heard by cavemen in the native woods. My dream life looks .. more than I can imagine.. music is my dream.

My mirror…when you see my child, you see me , when you see my art you see my child, when you hear me sing , you hear my child, when you see me work , you see my child.. and we are only learning and growing.
As a single mom. I am only embracing talent to become a professional singer-songwriter and music producer. Symphony is my 10 year old daughter’s name .
I was able to commit 10 years to her life , our journey consisted of me being a single mom , struggling to make ends meet by obtaining a full time job, completing my associates degree in art and continuing my music career years later, being accepted into Berklee’s online degree program.
It is a dream come true. I am excited to obtain my Bachelor’s degree. I am excited to show my daughter how I fought through society struggle and continued to push through and obtain my goals and ambitions.
As a single mom, I’m always looking forward to empowering my confidence. Making music.. singing and dancing has always been the healing support for my daughter and I.
I believe society can help with supporting struggling single families by building their confidence in more extensive programs to ensure the demands of confidence for the child and single parent is met. Society continues to struggle daily to support these programs for single families. Although there is plenty of childcare, there is not enough time for a single mother or parent to embrace their confidence in their dreams . There is no demand in their creative journey. If we were to build better programs and boost confidence and knowledge of programs out there for single families, there maybe less of a struggle for these families.
If the families do not have child care while the parent works strenuous hours. There is always a confidence and stressful downfall to time, when it comes to helping their creative needs, as though their creative endurance doesn’t matter.. when it does. I believe that having more programs for these family will help boost the confidence needed and effectively empower women to ensure the creative demand of their life is met.
Not only for the confidence of the mother but as well for the child who witness the mother’s struggle. I am hoping to not only inspire and empower women but most importantly my child . My mirror.

“ Belch through Song “
- Jasmyne White
As a single black mother of a 10 year old little girl , I raised my child in an all Caucasian school in Bayside Queens Community , it was the number one Elementry school in Queens NY.
I was hit with a “ she’s not going to get it. “ from my daughters second grade teacher , after only her first 2 weeks of school , trying to learn a brand new Math curriculum. I knew that my daughter’s confidence and comfortability was already at ease being that she was the only black girl in class and 1 / 5 in the school.
When the teacher “belched that out loud“ while I picked up my daughter at the side door in front of all the kids and teachers, I was so upset. I simply let the teacher know that I would set up a meeting with her and discuss further.
My daughter and I quietly walked away, got in the car and turned on some music and
“ belched in song. “
Relieving our mental strain from the thought of being the blacks that don’t know nothin.” That ain’t gone get nothing , I was naturally under the impression that I was being discriminated as a young black single mother.
We set up a meeting with the principal , and I made it clear about how I felt My daughter and I was being discriminated , as it was only the 2nd week of the school year. They advised that Symphony be put into a special education department .
I was appalled taking everything in and how I was being treated as well as my daughter. I thought myself, this is the end isn’t it, I cried so hard because my daughter was very intelligent . And most importantly I knew that I was doing an excellent job providing tutoring to my daughter so that she would propel in the school.
Let me tell you,
I had a plan. My daughter was not going to be uncomfortable in her skin , and her confidence in obtaining the education she deserved and the chance to grasp the education.
I practiced day and night with my daughter utilizing music , arts and dance to boost her confidence. As well as mine.
That was my first step. I didn’t want her to stress about school and learning and what was going on behind the teachers thoughts about us.
It was more so her CONFIDENCE, in knowing who she was and where she came from .
Being confident in sharing her confidence with her Caucasian friends and not feeling like…
she was an outsider at the school.
By being shy to raise her hand and being shy to answering the teachers questions when she knows the answer.
“ I told her raise your hand, raise your knowledge, and be confident , because you know the answer . “
My daughter Symphony became the top reader in her class and her math ended with A ‘s and A +’s.
Studying the curriculum helped. But the power of building her confidence through dance and music brought out her courage in knowing who she was a black girl.
So why not “belch through song,” feel , express through arts like the Harlem Renaissance .
Talents, through creative arts, song and dance is the medicine for our souls “
- Jasmyne White
