My career/life goals are to graduate from Midwestern State University with a bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology and become a registered Rad-Tech. My goal is to work in healthcare and provide quality care to patients in my community. I also hope to travel in the future to broaden my skills and continue to grow both personally and professionally. I'm passionate about trying new things out independently, spending time with family, and maintaining perseverance in my life. I believe I am a strong candidate for any scholarships because of my resilience, work ethic, and determination to succeed despite financial challenges. I come from a low-income background, and my mother moved to the U.S. from the Philippines in search of better opportunities. As a first-generation college student, my background has shaped me into someone who values education, perseverance, and service. I am committed to earning my degree and building a stable future not only for myself, but for my family as well.

Growing up, I learned early on what it meant to face challenges. As a double minority raised by a single mother alongside my four siblings, life was anything but easy. Despite financial struggles and limited opportunities, my mother’s resilience taught me that hardships are not an excuse but a reason to push forward. Watching her work tirelessly to provide for us, I knew I wanted to build a future that honored her sacrifices while also giving back to those in need. That drive has fueled my passion for community involvement, which I strengthened through the National Honor Society. Now, as I pursue a career in radiologic technology, I plan to use my skills to make an even greater impact on the world.
Community service has always been an important part of my life, and through the National Honor Society, I was able to give back in meaningful ways. Whether volunteering at community events, encouraging fellow peers, or assisting those in need made me realize that those simple factors can create lasting change. Being part of NHS taught me leadership, responsibility, and the importance of uplifting others. That same mindset is what motivates me to become a radiologic technologist to not only help diagnose and treat patients but to be a source of comfort and care during their most vulnerable moments.
Radiologic technology is more than just a career choice for me; it is a path to serve people in ways that truly matter. Medical imaging plays a crucial role in early detection and treatment, and through my work, I hope to provide patients with the answers and reassurance they desperately need. Too often, individuals from underserved communities go without proper medical attention due to financial or systemic barriers. I want to change that by working in hospitals or clinics that focus on accessibility and patient-centered care, ensuring that quality healthcare reaches those who need it most.
Beyond my professional goals, I plan to continue my commitment to service on a global scale. Through medical mission trips, I hope to bring radiologic services to communities that lack access to proper healthcare. Many people in developing countries suffer from preventable conditions simply because they lack the resources for early diagnosis. By using my skills abroad, I can help bridge that gap and ensure that more people receive the care they deserve.
Additionally, I want to be an advocate and mentor for young people, especially those from backgrounds like mine. Growing up, I didn’t see many role models in the medical field who looked like me, and that lack of representation made success seem almost unattainable. I want to change that narrative by showing others that no matter where they come from, they can achieve their dreams through hard work and perseverance. Whether through mentorship programs, community outreach, or simply leading by example, I am committed to uplifting others along my journey.
At my core, I believe that adversity shapes strength, and my experiences have fueled my passion for making a difference. Becoming a radiologic technologist would be more than a career goal but a mission to use my skills for good, to provide compassionate care, and to ensure that no one is left behind in their healthcare journey. Through my work and continued dedication to service, I plan to turn my struggles into a force for good, making a lasting impact on the world—one patient, one community, and one act of kindness at a time.
