My name is Jasmine Mazard Larry, I am 17 years old. I have had many life changing events occur in my life. I've always had a kind spirit; I consider myself to be a positive person looking to improve myself and others around me. Through the adversities I've faced, I was always hopeful. When I was perceived as challenged due to learning difficulties, and being looked down upon, I thought to myself, it's okay because it may take me longer to understand a topic but as long as I can retain the information and apply it correctly, that's all that matters. When I started high school, I lost everything in a house fire. I thought to myself that it's not the end because we can rebuild. Through my academics and hard work, my goal to become a better person is achieved every day. I have failed many times, but I have also succeeded. I admire when I fail because it makes me the person I am today. Failure equals the possibility to ultimately succeed. It's always possible to overcome the obstacles that are set up for me to fail. Overall, allowing myself to no longer make excuses but find results to overcome my obstacles. I've learned to become an advocate not only for myself but for others, this helped to strengthen my confidence and give me a better perspective to help change the course of my life.
