Bio

Coming from a migrant family has taught me to always work and strive for more. My parents have encouraged me from a young age to study and continue on with my goals and dreams. They personally did not have the opportunity to pursue on with their professional desired careers. This was mostly due to the lack of financial aid and little opportunities. My parents are both very hard-working people and i appreciate all they have done for me but seeing them struggle at times or come exhausted from their farm work occupation, has encouraged me to continue studying to achieve something better in life. I wish to be able to have a good and stable job as an elementary school teacher. Now that I am in college I really wish to continue with this dream. I know it will take a lot of hard work and patience but the joy of helping others is a great prize. I hope that I can be a great teacher like those who helped me in my childhood. I desire to be an example to my future students like they were to me. Even though there is a lot of work ahead of me I wish to accomplish this goal.

    Terry Crews "Creative Courage" Scholarship
Art has always been a very important part of my life. From an early stage in my life drawing, coloring and painting were a way for me to express my feelings and emotions. Art was a window for me to a different fantasy world into which I could escape when times were rough or when I felt the overflow of creativity. I loved the sensation of putting my thoughts and feelings into a colorful mess. During elementary school, I wasn't able to take art classes so the art I made was only for myself or family members. Once I entered high school I received the amazing opportunity of taking art class my four years there. Those four years were full of learning experiences and personal artistic growth. The unconditional support provided by my art teacher even to this day encouraged me to create some of my favorite pieces. Now that I am in college the amount of time I have to practice the arts is very limited and the financial support I can provide for my art has also decreased due to the many college expenses I have and will encounter. Being able to pursue a path in the arts is something I look forward to in a near future. I acknowledge that an artistic career is not a priority and that it would be best to pursue a career that would provide a stable future for me. But, I do desire to keep art in my life and pursue it for as long as I am capable to do so.
    Abran Arreola Latinx Scholarship
Coming from a migrant family has taught me to always work and strive for more. My parents have encouraged me from a young age to study and continue on with my goals and dream. They personally did not have the opportunity to pursue on with their professional desired careers. This was mostly due to the lack of financial aid and little opportunities. My mother only attended school until 6th grade and my father finished high school but was not able to continue. My parents are both very hard-working people and i appreciate all they have done for me but seeing them struggle at times or come exhausted from their farm work occupation, has encouraged me to continue studying to achieve something better in life. I wish to be able to have a good and stable job as an elementary school teacher. I also wish to help my parents with this job. During elementary school i was a very shy, introvert person. It was hard for me to socialize and i was much of a bookworm. Throughout those years i had some marvelous teachers who helped me develop as a person and as a student. They encouraged me to open up and discover what i was capable of. As time kept passing I came to the realization that becoming a teacher was something that I really wanted to do. The idea of helping and encouraging kids and teens is something that I would love. I’ve seen how much help a little bit of kindness and attention can produce in a person. Teachers not only fill students with knowledge but also with hope, dreams, and an open mind to do great things. Thanks to them, i discovered what i wanted to study and knew i wanted to be like them when i become a teacher myself. I have always looked up to them and hope to someday help my students like they helped me. I think having people who care and help you develop who you are is something that we all need in our lives. Now that I am about to finish high school I really wish to continue with this dream. I know it will take a lot of hard work and patience but the joy of helping others is a great prize. I hope that I can be a great teacher like those who helped me in my childhood. I desire to be an example to my future students like they were to me. I know that the time that I spend with these kids will also help me grow and learn, because I know that kids have also so much to show and teach us. Even though there is a lot of work ahead of me I wish to accomplish this goal.
    Pandemic's Box Scholarship
Due to the pandemic we have all been encouraged to stay home. Being at home so much time has united me again with my family. We've been working harder on improving our communication and on spending more quality time with one another. This pandemic has also reminded us that we need to take care of one another and value our loved ones. I have also learned how to handle computer applications more efficiently. This could be of great use in the future working in my desired career. This experience will also help us remember that we are vulnerable and that we need to take care of ourselves and of others.
