My goal is to achieve financial freedom, enabling me to accomplish my dreams without limitations. I plan to earn a degree in computer science from a prestigious university and use my mom's connections in the field to secure a high-paying job. Alongside my career, I aim to establish a real estate LLC with guidance from my dad. By leveraging loans that require minimal down payment for owner-occupied properties, I plan to live in one unit while renting out the others to cover the mortgage. This strategy will allow me to save a significant portion of my income since housing often consumes 30% of people's earnings.
With those savings, I’ll reinvest into acquiring more rental properties, using tenant rent to cover costs, build a maintenance fund, and generate passive income. I also plan to start investing as early as possible, taking advantage of compounding interest over time. I’ll maintain a high-yield savings account for emergencies while ensuring the majority of my assets grow through investments.
However, financial success isn’t my only goal. I want to give back to those who’ve supported me and help those in need. I dream of fulfilling my parents’ wishes and building a better life for them. Beyond that, I want to help struggling communities in Uzbekistan by providing essentials like clean water and food, building mosques where people can gather and pray, and distributing Qurans so they can connect with their faith. My vision is to use my success to create meaningful change.

Ryan Stripling “Words Create Worlds” Scholarship for Young Writers
Writing has always been more than just an academic skill for me—it’s a form of expression, a way to explore ideas, and a method of personal growth. From a young age, I’ve been drawn to the written word, finding comfort in creating narratives that capture my thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Whether through essays, stories, or poetry, writing has provided me with a channel to connect with myself and others in meaningful ways.
What I love most about writing is its ability to transcend boundaries and communicate ideas in ways that resonate deeply with others. The written word has a unique power to shape perceptions, challenge norms, and inspire change. It allows me to distill complex thoughts into digestible, impactful pieces, and to share perspectives that might otherwise be unheard. Writing has been a source of catharsis for me, a space where I can explore my innermost thoughts and reflect on my personal journey. It’s both an outlet for my creativity and a tool for understanding the world around me.
As I look ahead to college, I know that writing will continue to play a central role in both my academic and personal life. I plan to keep writing as part of my educational journey, not only in the required essays and assignments but also in creative and professional outlets. I’m particularly excited to take advantage of opportunities in college to develop my writing skills further, participating in writing workshops, joining student publications, and collaborating with like-minded individuals who share my passion for storytelling and written expression.
In college, I hope to continue writing both for personal fulfillment and to contribute to my chosen academic field. My interest in urban planning and economics, for example, requires strong writing skills to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively. I plan to write research papers, reports, and analyses that will contribute to understanding critical issues such as affordable housing, gentrification, and sustainable development. The ability to write clearly and compellingly will be essential in conveying my ideas to policymakers, community leaders, and others working in these fields.
Additionally, I plan to continue writing creatively, whether through short stories, poetry, or perhaps even a blog where I can explore social issues and personal experiences. Creative writing will allow me to balance the academic demands of college with an outlet for my personal expression. I believe that writing creatively can provide balance in my life, offering a way to step back from the pressures of academia and reflect on the world around me in a more imaginative and artistic way.
Writing, for me, is not just a hobby or an academic task—it is a way of engaging with the world and contributing to meaningful conversations. I see writing as a lifelong pursuit, one that I will continue to develop and hone during my time in college. By integrating writing into my academic and creative endeavors, I hope to strengthen my ability to communicate effectively and make a positive impact both in my professional field and in the world at large.
BIPOC Urban Innovators Scholarship
My name is Jasim Bokhari, and my life has been shaped by experiences that have made me passionate about creating equitable and sustainable urban environments. Growing up, I witnessed the challenges that underserved communities face, particularly in areas like affordable housing, homelessness, and gentrification. These issues sparked my interest in the intersection of urban planning, economics, and technology. My goal is to combine my passion for computer science with my commitment to addressing these pressing urban challenges.
I am particularly motivated to pursue a career in urban planning and economics because of my own experiences with social and economic disparity. I grew up in a neighborhood where affordable housing was scarce, and I saw firsthand how the lack of access to housing, combined with rising rents due to gentrification, displaced families and created a cycle of poverty. I knew from an early age that I wanted to make a difference and work toward creating urban spaces that are inclusive, affordable, and sustainable for all.
My academic interest in computer science plays a crucial role in my vision for urban betterment. I believe that technology can be a powerful tool in addressing the systemic issues facing cities today. By combining my technical knowledge with my passion for social change, I plan to develop innovative solutions that will help cities combat homelessness, prevent gentrification, promote affordable housing, and create more sustainable environments. For instance, data analytics can be used to identify trends in housing markets, predict areas of gentrification before they become too disruptive, and offer solutions to mitigate displacement. Using machine learning, I could help design algorithms that predict housing shortages or optimize resource allocation for affordable housing projects.
In addition, the Internet of Things (IoT) can be leveraged to make urban environments more sustainable. Sensors can monitor air quality, water usage, and energy consumption in real time, enabling cities to reduce waste and implement green initiatives. This type of data-driven approach is central to creating smarter, more resilient cities where sustainability is built into the fabric of urban life.
What excites me most about urban planning is the potential for positive change. By applying the principles of economics and computer science to urban issues, we can create equitable solutions that benefit marginalized communities. I am especially drawn to the idea of designing urban spaces that not only provide housing but also support economic opportunity, education, and access to healthcare. A smart, equitable city uses technology to break down barriers, giving individuals the tools and opportunities to succeed.
I am motivated by the desire to make a tangible difference in the world, and I firmly believe that the integration of technology and urban planning is key to overcoming many of the challenges cities face today. My career goal is to work as a part of interdisciplinary teams that design and implement policies, technology, and strategies that foster equitable and sustainable cities. I plan to dedicate my life to ensuring that the cities of tomorrow are places where everyone—regardless of income, race, or background—has the opportunity to thrive.
In conclusion, I am committed to creating urban environments that are both inclusive and sustainable. My background in computer science, combined with my passion for urban planning and economics, positions me uniquely to contribute to solving some of the most pressing challenges of our time. I am excited to continue my journey toward making a positive, lasting impact on urban development, with a focus on combating homelessness, gentrification, and promoting sustainability for future generations.
Nabi Nicole Grant Memorial Scholarship
Life has often presented me with obstacles, but it was in my darkest moments that my faith proved to be a guiding light. One such time was when I faced the overwhelming pressure of balancing academic demands with family responsibilities. As a first-generation student with a single mother who had to sacrifice her education for me, I often felt the weight of expectations and the fear of failure. This burden was especially heavy during my high school years when I struggled to maintain my grades while supporting my family and dealing with the stress of financial difficulties. I found myself questioning whether I would be able to overcome these challenges or if I was destined to fall short of my aspirations.
During this difficult period, I turned to my faith for strength and clarity. Growing up, I was taught that faith in God is a source of unwavering support, especially when the world around me seemed uncertain. I remember one evening, feeling completely overwhelmed by the demands of school and life. It felt as if everything was spiraling out of control, and the pressure was almost too much to bear. I turned to prayer, seeking comfort and guidance. I asked God for the strength to continue pushing forward and for wisdom to navigate the tough decisions ahead. In that moment, I felt a sense of calm wash over me, and I realized that while I couldn't control everything, I could rely on my faith to persevere.
My faith gave me the perspective I needed to view challenges as opportunities for growth rather than as insurmountable barriers. I remembered that life is about overcoming adversity and that God does not give us challenges that we cannot handle. I began to approach my responsibilities with a renewed sense of purpose, understanding that my efforts, no matter how small they seemed at the time, would lead to greater things. I also made sure to lean on the support system within my faith community—friends, mentors, and leaders who encouraged me and reminded me of the strength that lies in trusting God's plan for my life.
Over time, I learned to balance my academic work with the challenges of family life. I developed better time management skills, sought help when needed, and embraced the support around me. My faith helped me not only persevere in the face of adversity but also to find peace amid chaos. Ultimately, I was able to graduate high school with honors and pursue my college education, a dream that once seemed out of reach.
Looking back, I realize that it was my faith that allowed me to overcome this challenge. It gave me the resilience to keep going, the wisdom to ask for help, and the strength to trust that God’s plan for my life would guide me through. Now, as I continue on my educational journey, I carry that lesson with me, knowing that no matter the challenge, I can rely on my faith to find the strength to succeed.

In addition to this, I see higher education as a platform for personal growth—an environment where I can challenge myself, explore my interests, and broaden my horizons.
As a first-generation student, I faced many challenges in preparing for college, but I approached these obstacles with determination and resourcefulness. I began by researching the college application process, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities on my own, as I didn’t have anyone in my immediate family to guide me. I reached out to school counselors and attended workshops to ensure I understood the steps required to apply for colleges and secure financial aid. The process was overwhelming at times, but my determination to succeed kept me moving forward.
I also focused on building skills outside of academics that would help me thrive in college. For example, I joined extracurricular activities that aligned with my interests, such as coding clubs and volunteer organizations, to build my leadership and teamwork abilities. I sought mentorship from teachers and professionals in the field of computer science, gaining insight into the industry and advice on how to succeed academically. This preparation, combined with my strong work ethic, has helped me develop a mindset that is both focused and adaptable.
In summary, I chose to pursue higher education because it offers me a chance to realize my potential, achieve my career goals, and honor the sacrifices my family has made. As a first-generation student, I have prepared myself by seeking out resources, developing valuable skills, and maintaining a strong sense of determination. I am ready for the challenges ahead and excited about the opportunities higher education will provide.

Being a first-generation college graduate is a tremendous source of pride and fulfillment for me. It represents not just the achievement of a personal goal but the culmination of the sacrifices, dreams, and hopes of my family. My parents, who didn’t have the chance to pursue higher education, worked tirelessly to provide me with opportunities they never had. They instilled in me the belief that education could change my life and open doors to a future filled with possibility. Now, as I approach the milestone of being a first-generation graduate, I feel a deep sense of responsibility to honor their sacrifices and pave the way for future generations in my family.
As the first in my family to attend college, I navigated this journey without the direct guidance that many others receive. I had to learn how to balance academics with the demands of daily life, figure out financial aid, and adjust to a new environment on my own. This experience taught me resilience and independence, as I often had to find solutions to challenges that others might take for granted. However, this sense of uncertainty also fueled my determination to succeed, and I’ve learned to embrace the challenges of being a first-generation student as an opportunity to grow.
Extracurricular activities have played a significant role in shaping who I am today and have been essential in my personal and academic development. In addition to academic-related activities, I participated in volunteer work and community service. This experience was particularly meaningful to me, as it allowed me to give back to others and use my skills to make a positive impact. Through these activities, I learned the importance of empathy, patience, and humility. I also gained a better understanding of how interconnected our world is, which has influenced my career goals to not only excel in my field but to use my success to contribute to the community.
My involvement in these extracurricular activities helped me build a well-rounded skill set and gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams. Being a first-generation student has not only made me more resilient but also more aware of the importance of community, teamwork, and service. These experiences, combined with the academic knowledge I gained, have shaped me into someone who is not afraid to face challenges head-on and who is committed to giving back to those who helped me along the way.
In conclusion, being a first-generation college graduate means breaking barriers and creating a path for those who follow. My extracurricular activities have been integral in shaping my character and preparing me for the future. They have provided me with the skills, experiences, and mindset to face challenges and contribute meaningfully to my community and career.

My faith in God has been a constant source of strength and guidance throughout my life. It has shaped my values, influenced my decisions, and provided me with resilience in times of challenge. As I move forward in my academic and career pursuits, I believe that my faith will continue to play a crucial role in guiding my actions and helping me navigate the complexities of life.
From a young age, my faith has taught me the importance of trust—trust in God’s plan for me, trust in His timing, and trust in the purpose He has for my life. Whenever I have faced moments of doubt or uncertainty, I’ve turned to prayer and scripture to find peace and clarity. This trust in God has given me a sense of calm in the face of adversity, knowing that no challenge is insurmountable when I rely on His guidance.

I believe that God has a plan for everyone, and this belief has motivated me to pursue my goals with diligence and integrity. Whether it’s studying for my computer science degree, preparing to start a business, or planning to give back to my community, my faith reminds me that every step I take is part of a larger journey that is aligned with God's will. This understanding keeps me focused and driven, even when obstacles arise.
My faith has also helped me develop a strong moral compass, which I believe is essential in both my personal and professional life. As I enter the tech industry and eventually venture into real estate, I know that I will face ethical decisions, both big and small. My faith teaches me to act with honesty, fairness, and kindness toward others, and these principles will guide me in my career. Whether I am working on a project, collaborating with a team, or building a business, I want to ensure that my actions reflect the values of integrity and compassion that are central to my faith.
In addition to guiding my decisions, my faith has given me the strength to persevere. Life, like any career, is filled with challenges, but I know that God has equipped me with the resilience to face those challenges head-on. When I encounter setbacks, I remind myself that they are not roadblocks but opportunities for growth. My faith allows me to see failure as a stepping stone toward success rather than an end point.
Looking ahead, I know that my faith will continue to be a source of support throughout my career. It will help me stay grounded in moments of success and keep me humble, reminding me that my achievements are not just the result of my efforts but also of God’s blessings. Furthermore, my faith will drive me to use the success I achieve for a greater purpose—to help others, invest in my community, and contribute to causes that align with my values.
In summary, my faith has been integral to shaping the person I am today and will continue to guide me as I navigate my career. It has provided me with purpose, strength, and a solid ethical foundation, all of which I believe will contribute to my long-term success. As I move forward, I trust that God’s guidance will be with me every step of the way, leading me to use my skills and resources to make a positive impact on the world.

His unwavering support, extensive knowledge in business and real estate, and constant motivation have made him an exceptional role model.
One of the most significant ways my father has influenced me is by always being present. Whether it was helping me with schoolwork, teaching me life skills, or simply listening to my dreams and ambitions, he has shown me the importance of showing up for the people you care about. His consistent presence has given me a strong foundation of confidence and security, knowing that I always have someone to rely on. This has inspired me to approach my relationships with the same dedication and care.
In addition to his emotional support, my father’s expertise in business and real estate has been invaluable. From a young age, I have admired his ability to navigate the complexities of these fields with skill and determination. My ultimate goal is to create a life where I have no financial limitations, allowing me to pursue meaningful accomplishments and give back to those who have helped me and others in need. To achieve this, I plan to earn a degree in computer science from a prestigious university. This degree will provide me with a solid foundation in problem-solving and innovation, while also opening doors to a high-paying job in the field. With the support of my mom’s connections in the tech industry, I aim to secure a position where I can develop cutting-edge solutions and gain financial stability.
However, I know that financial freedom and impact require more than one income stream. With guidance from my dad, I plan to establish a real estate LLC to create passive income. My strategy involves leveraging special loans to purchase properties where I can live in one unit and rent out others, enabling tenants’ rent to cover the mortgage. This approach will allow me to save significantly, as housing typically accounts for 30% of most people's income. Over time, I plan to expand my portfolio, using the income to build wealth while maintaining a reserve for maintenance and emergencies.
In addition to real estate, I’m committed to investing as early as possible to benefit from the power of compound interest. I’ve seen many people start investing too late, missing out on opportunities to grow their savings. By starting young, I’ll be able to maximize my returns over time. I’ll also maintain a high-yield savings account for emergencies, ensuring that I’m financially secure while focusing on long-term growth.
While these financial strategies are important to me, I don’t want money to define my life. I am equally driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact on others. I want to give back to my parents by helping them achieve their dreams and providing them with the life they’ve always wanted. Beyond my family, I’m passionate about helping struggling communities. For example, many people in Uzbekistan lack access to clean water, adequate food, and places to practice their faith. I want to use my success to build mosques where people can come together, wells for clean water, and provide Qurans so individuals can deepen their connection to their faith.
By combining my computer science and business aspirations, I can amplify my impact. Computer science offers the tools to innovate and create solutions that address real-world problems, while my business ventures will provide the resources to support those solutions. Whether it’s developing software to streamline real estate management or using technology to optimize charitable projects, my ultimate goal is to blend these disciplines to improve lives. Through hard work and dedication, I hope to turn my dreams into reality and inspire others to do the same.

The intersection of computer science and business represents the perfect balance between technical innovation and strategic decision-making. Technology is a driving force in shaping the modern world, and I believe computer science is the ultimate tool for solving complex problems. However, turning innovative ideas into sustainable, impactful solutions requires a solid understanding of business principles. By merging these two disciplines, I aim to create transformative solutions that not only work but thrive in the real world.
From an early age, I have been fascinated by technology’s ability to optimize and improve lives. Programming an algorithm to analyze patterns or creating a platform that connects people reveals the potential of computer science to impact lives on a large scale. At the same time, I’ve always admired the entrepreneurial spirit, particularly the way businesses identify problems, develop solutions, and reach diverse audiences. My interest in this blend grew as I observed how technology-driven companies like Google and Amazon not only innovate but also understand market dynamics to remain leaders in their industries.
I’m particularly drawn to fields like software engineering and artificial intelligence because they involve building tools that can solve significant challenges. For instance, AI has the power to transform industries like healthcare, finance, and education. However, understanding how to deploy these solutions effectively requires insight into market needs, financial strategies, and long-term scalability—skills rooted in business knowledge. A company might develop an incredible product, but without a strong business strategy, it risks failing to reach its full potential.
My career aspirations involve leveraging computer science and business to make a meaningful impact. My plan is to use my technical expertise to build tools or platforms that address critical needs while employing business acumen to ensure these solutions are accessible and sustainable. For example, I’m inspired by companies that use data analytics to improve supply chains or leverage machine learning to provide personalized experiences for users. I want to combine these technological innovations with strategic business practices to create systems that benefit both individuals and communities.
Beyond personal career goals, I’m passionate about using my skills to give back. I dream of building my own business, such as a real estate venture, to establish financial independence while helping others. By using my technical background to optimize business operations and automate processes, I can maximize efficiency and create long-term impact. Additionally, I hope to use the resources and influence I gain to invest in underprivileged communities, particularly in areas that lack basic necessities like clean water and education.
In summary, my passion for computer science and business stems from their immense potential to transform lives. I believe the combination of technical problem-solving and entrepreneurial strategy is key to making meaningful, lasting change. Pursuing a path that blends these fields excites me because it allows me to dream big and take tangible steps toward turning those dreams into reality.
Joe Gilroy "Plan Your Work, Work Your Plan" Scholarship
My end goal is to be able to have no limitations like money for the things I want to accomplish. I plan to get a degree in computer science from a prestigious university. Then with that degree, I plan to get a good high high-paying job in the field using the connections that my mom already has in the field.
After I get the start of my life going I plan to consult my dad and start my own real estate LLC since nowadays just one job is not enough to achieve what I want. I plan to take out a special loan to where I don't need to put as much money down since I am living in the house then I will rent out the other space to roommates and have them pay for the mortgage so I will be living for free basically. I will save massive amounts of my paycheck without having to pay for a living since most people spend at least 30% of their monthly salary on housing. This will allow me to get more rental properties that I can rent out to people. Then with their rent, I can take some of it then split the rest up into money in my pocket and some into a fund in case something in the house breaks. Also, I will start investing as young as possible since I have seen a lot of people who have started very late. But the way you build a lot of money is by investing young since it compounds over time and I feel like some people don't realize how much one thousand dollars could be worth in 30 years. With this, I will also make sure not to put much money in the back and what I do have in the bank for an emergency fund for example will be in a high-yield savings account.
Now that I have my plan to make money I don't want that to be my entire life. I want to get to the point where I can really give back to the people who have really helped me and the people who really need the help. I want to get to the point where I can give my parents their dreams and what they have always wanted. But I also want to give back to people who are struggling right now people in Uzbekistan are really struggling not having enough food or clean water or having any place where they can come together to share their faith. I want to get to the point where I can build mosques for people who don't have one so they can come together and pray together. I also want to give them wells so they can get clean water and Qurans so they can read the words of the god that they are praying to.
