I am ambitious, driven and want to impact the world in a positive way. While growing up, both my mom and dad have instilled within me excellent morals, values, and meaning. Throughout my life, they’ve taught me to work hard and to always give my best. Also, they’ve taught me to look for the good in others and to treat everyone with dignity and respect. Growing up in their house, I was constantly reminded about the value of education. As a result of their teaching, I developed a love for science, technology, engineering and math. I am a current Mechanical Engineering student at North Carolina, A&T State University. I chose this discipline because I want to design, develop and create devices that will benefit others. Perhaps, I will design a life-saving device that will be used in medical facilities around the world. Maybe, I will develop an idea that makes travel by highway, air and water safer, or possibly create something that brings family fun and sheer joy, like an amusement park ride. I want to always be a part of the solution. That’s why I look for ways to help the community. When I am home from college, I volunteer at church through Nourish-Up, a program for needy families. While in high school, I was chosen as a VolunTeen for the Mecklenburg County Library. I assisted the librarians in several areas. I am determined to reach my goals of becoming an engineer, but most importantly driven to use my skills and education to make a positive impact in the lives of others.
