I have been passionate about music since I was a baby. I liked hearing my mom sing lullabies to me. I liked hearing her sing at church while she carried me. I liked seeing my dad play instruments at church and at home. I was nurtured in a home with a lot of music going on. I started having music lessons in drums at 5 years old and lessons in piano at 6 years old. I started accompanying my sister on the violin at 8 years old. Because of all these influences, it is only natural that my passion for music became one that I pursued even in college. I enjoy making music, and my goal is to make music all my life, giving enjoyment and entertainment to others.

I have always been a very musically inclined person, learning several instruments from an early age, intensely listening to music, and even trying my hand at creating my original music. My main instrument is piano, but I used to play drums and other percussion instruments and alto saxophone. I started percussion lessons when I was 5 years old, piano lessons when I was 6 and sax lessons at 10, but my passion for music began when I was around 14. At 8, I started playing percussion in a band at a homeschool music academy; I also provided piano accompaniment for my sister’s violin performances. While in middle school, I played the drums for the worship team at church and in high school became the regular keyboard player for the youth and young adult worship team. I play solo pieces as special numbers at our church, at other churches when invited, and at nursing homes.
All those led me to decide to officially go to college for music as well as aim for a career in music; they may evolve, but these are my ideal outcomes. I am currently working on, and am well on track, to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Commercial Music. The side of the music industry that interests me the most is the production side; I aspire to be a music producer, someone who makes music not only for myself but for other artists as well. The idea that I wanted to become a music producer started a couple of years ago when I started to listen to instrumentals which inspired me to do schoolwork more effectively. Eventually, it caused me to become completely engrossed in the process of making music and the rest is history. I tend to resonate more with artists that produce music without vocals. I love to pick apart every instrument and its role in the song as I listen.
For a few years now, I have been transcribing and arranging music in my free time, even composing some of my original works. Along with composing and transcribing, I do lean into the performance side of music. Already this school year, I have participated in many recitals and concerts hosted by my school. I have performed solo piano pieces, piano ensembles, and choral music. People enjoy my performances as I enjoy playing for them.
I am passionate about learning about music and all it has to offer. I have been enjoying and gaining a lot of knowledge from my music theory, music technology, conducting, and composing classes. I cannot wait to take the rest of my music classes! Just being around people with the same passion as I have inspires me to absorb everything I can until I finish college. Our class choir, where I also play piano, has been singing at various churches in the community as well as at nursing homes. I plan to continue doing such even after graduation, as well as playing piano for our church; I am certain that I will be able to help enhance our music department after learning more in college.
