Pursuing a bachelor’s degree, I plan to Major in Criminal Justice in the Forensic Science Field. I also have an interest in Astronomy, which might also be a path for me to explore. Presently, I have an accumulation of 12 college hours, so far, with more to come, while balancing and completing my high school requirements and extracurricular expectations at the same time. I am a member of the Work-Based Learning Program, Also a part of the Nutrition Department at my school. Throughout my high school years, I have played varsity Basketball as a Shooting Guard, since my freshman year. Currently, I am one of the two captains of the team. In addition, I am a member of various clubs and organizations. My community service involvement consists of working as a traffic director for my church and other events that they have. Also helping out with our Athletic Trainer for Baldwin, going to games, and helping out with as much as I can. I am looking forward to using my education to help the world by uncovering murders and getting justice for families. With the help of scholarship opportunities to support me, my goal is to completely fund my education, and most importantly, begin my career in the forensic science field, debt-free. Obtaining a good quality education will not only provide opportunities to increase my knowledge but also opportunities for advancement in my chosen career and future endeavors. Due to the increasing cost of a college education, it is very important to take advantage of every scholarship opportunity to offset some of the expenses, reduce the financial burden on my parents, and ultimately assist me in achieving my goal, a college degree in Forensic Science/Criminal Justice. This scholarship will help me achieve my goals, on becoming the first in my direct family line to graduate and finish 4 years of college. Also to pursue my dream of being a Forensic Scientist or either an Astronomer. A major reason for this scholarship is to help take the stress off my dad of having to pay so much for college. Having that my mother passed away on January 18 2025 and being a widow, My dad has been doing it all by himself taking care and trying hard to provide for me and my 2 sisters. We are not the type of family to ask for help so you can imagine how we always push through adversity and persevere happily in the end. Even with the personal money he gives us to use, I always try to give it back to him by doing side hustle jobs in my city, like, cutting grass, washing cars, planting, running errands. So I definitely would like to relieve his stress and it would mean so much from me and my family to receive this scholarship.
Brooks Martin Memorial Scholarship
A Major challenge I had to overcome or accept was the death of my mother Jennie L Mundie. On the Upcoming of her death I had to mentally prepare myself for what was to come. On January 18 between the times 12:00 -12:10 I received a call confirming that my mother had passed. Hours prior to that my mother had already been in the hospital with issues she may not overcome, believing and praying in god hands, We had a basketball game that same day, And I made the decision to go to the game to get my mind off the issue that my mother may be on her death bed. I went to the game believing my mother will push through and be ok, but God had other plans . In doing that I took all of the lessons she gave me in life and over time became a better and a more mature person then I was before. This was a challenge for me because nobody wants to lose their mother or any caregiver of a sort. It didn't take me a long time to process her death, but it did take me a while to accept that she was not going to be present in my life anymore. With that being said she will always be in my life , in spirit and in heart. A major reason for this scholarship is to help take the stress off my dad of having to pay so much for college. Having that my mother passed away on January 18 2025 and being a widow, My dad has been doing it all by himself taking care and trying hard to provide for me and my 2 sisters. Recently he just bought me a car so I would never have to be late for practice waiting on him and more so him getting up early in the morning for practice even if he didn’t feel like taking me. Our afterschool activities adds on a more load for him, me with my needs for basketball like shoe’s, warm ups, and even paying for injuries. On the other hand my sister with her Band needs, instrument pieces, concerts, and paying for treatment for her possible hip surgery , while still trying to give us money for our own personal use. We are not the type of family to ask for help so you can imagine how we always push through adversity and persevere happily in the end. Raise Me Up to DO GOOD Scholarship
This scholarship will help me achieve my goals, of becoming the first in my direct family line to graduate and finish 4 years of college. Also to pursue my dream of being a Forensic Scientist or an Astronomer. A major reason for this scholarship is to help take the stress off my dad of having to pay so much for college. Having that my mother passed away on January 18 2025 and being a widow, my dad has been doing it all by himself taking care and trying hard to provide for me and my 2 sisters. So I definitely would like to relieve his stress and it would mean so much from me and my family and me to receive this scholarship. Living in this type of family environment also helped me develop empathy and emotional awareness. I saw firsthand how decisions and circumstances can deeply affect people’s lives, especially when resources or support are limited. These experiences made me more understanding of others’ struggles and motivated me to want to help people who may not always have a voice. I learned that fairness, honesty, and accountability matter, especially when people’s futures are at stake.
These values are what draw me to the field of forensic science. Forensic science combines careful observation, critical thinking, and integrity qualities I developed through my upbringing. In this field, every detail matters, and every piece of evidence represents a real person’s story. My background has taught me to treat situations with patience and respect, which I believe is essential when working with sensitive evidence and cases that impact families and communities.
Looking ahead, I envision a future where I use my skills in forensic science to do good and help others. Whether that means assisting in criminal investigations, preventing wrongful convictions, or providing accurate evidence that helps bring closure to families, I want my work to contribute to justice and trust within the community. Even if my career path evolves over time, I know that my goal will remain the same: to use science, discipline, and compassion to make a positive difference.

And she was heavy on the belief in god, going to church, listening to gospel, taking me to church related events, all together after she passes my relationship with god has gotten stronger as well.Sometimes I get down on myself and just think about her and when that happens I know that I have god on my side. And that I can do anything through Christ. Along the way I use basketball to also spread Christ. The more I play the more faith and strength I feel within him especially with my senior coming to an end trying to figure everything out of my own. Also other people have encouraged me to get closer to Christ as well, like reading bible verses everyday talking to God when things get hard, and going to church more. But my mother is the real reason I wanted to and started having faith. There has been several occasions where I doubt myself and doubt other things in life that I can’t control, but I always find a way to preserve and have faith that god has my back and he has a path for me, I just have to walk it.
